I do, however, I try to add an errand in to make it appear as if I'm not just driving around for no reason.

Nice to see I'm NOT CRAZY! :headbang:

Anyone here stay up late just so you can go drive at 3am? I've done it many times

This car is just so much fun to drive, I almost always take the longer way round. My fav route home is to take the I5 south->I10E->710 to the end. the best part is the I10E to 710 interchange. you go to this right hand 360 turn, then straight away to the end of the freeway (like 2-3miles). From the 10, at 6th, downshift to 3rd to enter the straight that leads to the 360 turn, then downshift to 2nd for the turn... the Rocket out WOT (when possible), then 3rd and 4th, then brake like there's no tomorrow before reaching the end of the freeway!
the 5 - 10 interchange is also quite fun, but there're almost always traffic there.

Not as often as I did when it was new - then I'd have to take it out every day! Now I'm content to just take it for a spin occasionally - and take the long way round whenever I'm going somewhere for a "proper" purpose.

Edit: and 100% say Yes! Anyone saying No should receive an instant ban anyway IMO

I cant even count how many times I have taken the long way home, or just cleaned the car up and drove around for hours.......or just get in the car and go with no destination whatsoever. This is what in my opinion sets this car apart from some others.... its adaptability to whatever, wherever, and however you want to drive it. Long trips, the track, crazy traffic, cruising etc.

How can you buy a 1 series and vote no? Just for that I'm putting a few extra miles on mine tomorrow.

I voted yes. But, technically speaking, I am conducting valuable research in tire/road friction using wheel slip and other factors, not just having fun. In a few years, I might even publish something. Really, officer.

My first car strictly for fun was a 1953 MT TD, bought used in '55. I didn't buy the 1er with the aim of shaking the habit.

Maybe it'd make more sense to simply ask "how often to do you take out your car just for fun?"

i know i dont have my 1 yet but late at night when i cannot sleep 2-3 am i fantasize about the fact that if i had my 1 i would deffinatly be out prowling the streets going where ever my heart desires just for the pure sake of driving. cruising down the coast and seeing the sun come up is what i plan on doing when i get my 1! BTW if you cannot tell im going nuts without her.

The only problem with that is most people on the roads at 3 am are either:

drunk,
high on drugs,
on their way to or from a burglary in a stolen car,

or any combination of the above..

Forgot truck drivers.

Or was that redundant?
