Pennsylvania Route 125?

I know winter just started, but starting to do some research for some Spring rides. Anyone on here ever driven PA Route 125? Apparently it's about 25 miles from Tremont to Shamokin of winding twisty nicely maintained blacktop.

That entire area is full of amazing roads to drive 125 is nice and flowy. You won't be disappointed. I recommend 645 as well going up and over the mountain, but it's pretty sketchy now since water tends to run over it and freeze (how I wrecked my first car).

Me and a couple other 1ers from this area did one of these last fall. someone from over on the M3 forums organized it. he had a great route. would love to do it again. ended up being a pretty long day since we live so far away (3 hours) but i'm sure they'd like to do it again. i would. keep us posted of anything you get sorted out.

Awesome...thanks for the info. Hopefully plan to schedule a ride out that way sometime in early spring.

So...I finally got a chance to run PA Route 125 to Shamokin PA AKA "The Tail of the dragon of the Northeast" and it was really awesome. It's basically 15+ miles of hill climbs, twisties & 180 degree curves.

My day started at 7:30 am. I decided I didn't want to take any major highways (476 etc.) getting there so I mapped out all back roads. Well...that took longer than expected.

From Bucks county it took me about 3 hrs. But I think I could get it down to 2.5 hrs. Below is a description someone wrote & I think it's pretty accurate. The only downside is when you get to Shamokin, there really isn't anything to see or do. It's basically an old coal mining town that seems to have gone the way of many other coal mining towns

According to the website motoring con Brio...Pennsylvania State Route 125 is One of the best motorcycle or sports car roads in PA! PERIOD. Huge amounts of twisties, many 180 degree banked turns, blind curves, hill climbs, etc. This road is, in two words, a drivers paradise€™. This road is simply the best twisty road within two and one half hours drive of New York City. Bar none. "The Tail of the Dragon of the northeast€"...

The combination of Gold Mine road and PA 125 is very much like a roller-coaster ride, with a series of very steep climbs and descents with sharp corners at the top and the bottom, with a few rolling hills and gentle corners mixed-in for good measure…

A road in Pennsylvania coal country that's equal turns challenging and entertaining, smooth-as-a-baby'€™s-bottom and hang-onto-your-hat-bumpy (the detour onto PA-25 mid-route, in particular), hilly country road and winding mountain road, but unfortunately dotted with homes and small villages at various points of the route, which, as spirited driving enthusiasts, we don't exactly love. If you like hairpin turns, 125's got em in spades. Its proximity to NYC is also a major selling point -Ed.

I've been on parts of that but never ran the whole distance. I like to run on back roads even with a lesser car, just to cut off some of the back and forth that the main roads take. I occasionally have to go up as far as Sunbury, so I'll go up 183 and around that way instead of the map's choice of 61. Besides, I've been through Centralia so many times, I don't need to see it again every time. Need to take a ride up that way with my 135 now.
