Carbon Fiber Hood
Who here would put a CF hood on their 1er? At first, the thought did not appeal to me (eventhough I have one on my RSX), but after staring at my desktop photo of the Tii all day long at work, it's really growing on me.
Also, would you consider the racing stripes as well? Yay, nay, or :iono: |

Nay, after modifying a couple of my old cars I am ready to leave how it looks alone. If it doesn't pertain to the performance of the car then I am not even remotely interested. Sway bars and new rims and tires and maybe a dinan or procede is about all I will ever plan on doing. To each his own though

I will be interested in the hood if they offer it or I can find one like the Tii. As far as the stripes, no thanks. I would also like a CF trunk lid.
Now these also depend on the weight factor. If these parts are not lighter, then my answer is no. I know on my STi, the aluminum hood was actually lighter than the CF ones. After seeing the performance parts catalog, I am looking forward to shopping for bits. By the way Hokie135, weight has a big factor in performance and handling. It will also help you get better gas mileage. |

How much do you weigh!?
It's all about the weight here also. If a CF hood can promise to shave significant pounds, I'm considering. Personally, I'm past CF purely for looks. The ricer croud kinda screwed that look up for me.

If it saves enough weight then I would add the CF hood and trunk. I would even consider front fenders if it would shave enough off. Like the STI the Al hood on my Z was about the same as CF. No stripes for me, but maybe something else using car color. |

I found a website that sells two different carbon fibre hoods for the 1's. One is by Saibon, rounding it to the nearest hundred, about 500 US dollars and the other is made by Riss Racing and it goes for about 800 US dollars, I was thinking about carbon fibering my car, especially with the weird sedona red to match, but I dont want to get made fun of for ricing my car, but I think ill do it soon. I already spent 800 on my chip, and Im going for 3gz worth of rims lol.

Got a link? I wonder if Anthony and Adam know they manufacture CF hoods for the 1? Somehow I doubt it since they haven't mentioned it here..

I'd be interested however the weight savings isn't a big factor.. I guess its just the look and the wow factor when people see your car with a CF hood :w00t:

Fibreoptix is nothing but a con artist and thief...but wait,,I'm being too kind...Stay away from that dip shit...He was originally dealing with a manufacturer in Knoxville, but they ran his arse off when the real fibreoptix showed his ugly head...

I'd buy a stock-style one if it shaved at least 15 pounds..if not i dont see the point...I might paint it though...i'd have to see how it looked..

For me it would be all about weight too. I know the 135 is a little nose heavy so it would be nice to start to lighten things up a bit there. Looking around though, there is very little detail available on weight on the hoods mentioned above.
VIS http://www.visracing.com/newcatalog/...t-338/Hood-387 Seibon http://www.seiboncarbon.com/pdut_det...W&CarYear=2009 This place seems to sell both of the above, but not much detail on weight there either. http://www.carbon-fiber-hoods.com/enter.html |
