Clinched fender flares anyone ?
So I've been looking for some sort of fender flares/wide body options for my 135i. I found this company 'Clinched' who makes a small variety of different styles and sized flares, along with a few kits( no kits for the 135i though). It seems like one of the better options I've seen so far for simple bolt on flares, I'm just not sure how much I like the rear flares. Although they do have wider options than the pictures I showed, but I haven't seen pictures with a 1er with that particular style. http://www.clinchedflares.com/ |

If my car was 100% track duty, I would definitely want these to fit some fatter rubber. A little aggressive for the streets of Northern VA though lol

These are the first flares ive seen tht (imo) suit the car. I hope Hard Motorsport do some flares in the future though, their E46 flares suit perfectly.

That's much better. Wish it was for the performance front bumper. All and all, still not sure about rivet kits on the 1er.

i'm going to give a try. Clinched makes many different sizes of these flares and now even a widebody kit. I'm trying to squeeze 18x10 et25 for a square track setup. These are the "Newschool" 1.5 inch (4cm) Universal fender flares

How much massaging was needed to get them to that point?

nothing yet. thats how they come. they are made of what looks like ABS plastic, maybe 1/8" thick. lines up really well with the flat portion of the fenders. they say you can mold them a bit with a heat gun. hoping to get to that point this week if possible...

The car is currently plasti-dip'ed. I'll probably keep them black for now. All this is to drive COTA the end of april. The dip is a cheap way to keep all the track crap from messing up the paint. Eventually i'll probably re-dip everything the same color. Hoping to find some more time to work on it this week

looks sweet. In for results with the 1.5 inch universal flares. Just looks them up and they seem really reasonably priced. What all is needed to make these work? I don't know anything about fender flares but is it possible to have these non rivet style like bondo or whatever and re-painted for OEM look?

Due to the material, grafting them into the body(bondo or other body filler) would require rivets or the likes to hold them securely but it's entirely possible to achieve an OEM appearance.
