The new one?! If that's the case, it's a sure sign they've jacked the price up beyond what their market will support. I don't have anything at all agains the Evo, and it can be one hell of a fast car, but I think they screwed up a little with this latest model, mainly with the pricing. |

lowest ive seen is 3k under msrp, maybe 5k. South coast mitsu is the cheapest around. They will send the car to ur house for nothing. I actually placed a deposit with them but the bmw won me over.

Since I live in irvine, I dropped by south coast mitsu prior to my purchase, and they had a lot of Evo X on the lot.

according to this, the 135i would be slower than the evo IX and the evoVIII. http://www.fastestlaps.com/track7.html

The E46 M3 being faster than an Exige, yet slower than a 986 S also takes some credibility from those times, IMO. Given what I see there, I would look at them all as +-3 seconds, if not 4. I would take those times with a grain of salt. It's also worth noting that everything I've seen indicates that the Evo 8/9 is faster than the 10.

Well, being that im a previous owner of a 2004 Subaru STI that was modded for light track use I will be happy to give my review.
I should have my BMW by the end of this month. All I can say is the BMW was the next logical choice. I wanted a great daily driver that can be taken to the track once or twice. The 1 series is the only car I found that has the potential to be both. |

Nice vid. Fair outcome.
Evo pulling 1g is very impressive. 135i posting those acceleration times with the stock AT is also very impressive. Track tool = Evo. Overall = 135. With that said I think the 135i could become a very good track car with some changes to the chassis. PSS9 would sort out the suspension issues. Wider rubber would help also. |

I find it interesting that Evo only has 2.3 steering turns lock-to-lock compared to BMW's 2.9 (according to Motortrend). For me it is of utmost importance to have quick, responsive, razor-sharp steering, it makes you feel like Formula 1 driver, what great fun! Because of that if I order 135i it MUST have active steering. My Focus SVT (don't laugh) has 2.6 turns lock-to-lock already and if I switch to BMW I want to be blown away with every aspect of the car and 2.9 is a step back. Does anybody have positive experience with active steering ? I heard the first generation system was less then optimal. Thanks.

^^^one thing to consider is that the evo and focus are AWD and FWD respectively so there front wheels cant turn as far at the extremes as a RWD can, so even thought the evo X has a very fast ratio (not as fast as the IX) the poor turning radius also makes the turns to lock shorter. But your right the evo does have a faster steering ratio than the 135

What you're looking for is quick steering ratio... Evo X has 13.3:1 ratio compare to BMW's 16.0:1... I believe 16.0:1 is the same as my E36 M3 I owned previously.. it's alot slower than my current Evo IX (13.0:1). Even currently gen of Civics have quicker steering ratio at 13.63:1...not saying Civics will outhandle a 135i.. of course. http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-c...fications.aspx Downside of having super quick steering ratio is that... it could be nervous to drive on the freeways.. requiring a little twist of your wrist to change lane could be fun for some not so for others... |
