Any specific reason to as why my "Shift light" doesn't work on any RPM? Also, I throw both lambada codes and still get the check engine light with Cobb on map 2+ Aggressive. I have RR catless down pipe.

Speaking with the local cobb dealer in my area (he called called Cobb this week about this), cobb will not be releasing an AP for the 2012+ 135i with the newer DME. Apparently the cost to work on and produce the AP for these model cars is not profitable enough. I'm curious if Cobb will officially confirm this?

I think an official confirmation is warranted as their are dozens of people waiting for this release. It's the least they can do after leading people on over the past year. I'm willing to bet that they don't have the skill to crack the new DME anyways.

same has been said about the Nissan GT-R ECU, took about 6 months IIRC and it was cracked. question is, will potential sales justify the effort.

I think most good tuners can do it from a technical perspective. The question is, will they justify it from a price/sales perspective?
Even if the communication is encrypted between the DME and the flash unit/computer, the DME eventually has to load the tables and information into ram and decrypt the flash to install it. So the decryption key is there somewhere in the hardware.

How much boost should Stage 2+ aggresive for the N55 run?
I was seeeing over 20psi on my boost gauge which seemed ridiculous so changed to 2+ sport which is more like 16-17. |

If would like to know Cobb plans on unlocking the boost limiter for us home tuners who use ATR? I've asked this several times across several different forums which I know Cobb follows and I have yet gotten a response.

Interesting if this is actually the case. Given the volume of requests both here, 335i forums and the volume of N55's in the new F chassis, it wouldn't be a wise decision to omit them from their support. The only one with the 'cracked' codes is the Dinan.

Hi guys,
I've been lurking around the forum for sometime now but haven't posted. Great forum btw, a wealth of knowledge! I have a late 2011 N55 135i here in the UK and have some burning questions as I have just purchased a Cobb AP for it. I know that any maps can be uninstalled and the stock map will be reinstated for any warranty work etc but I am still a little skeptical as I have read on other forums that BMW can still see/find out that the ECU has been reflashed or tampered with quite easily as the car is hooked up to the server in Germany to check for discrepancies whenever a service or warranty work is carried out. Some say that there is a "flash counter" or similar feature within the ECU that keeps track of the number of times it has been reflashed? So I'd like to know if this is true or is it really 100% untraceable? Also, I'm looking to keep my car relatively stock, except for a BMW performance exhaust and perhaps an air filter. So I would only be running the basic stage 1 maps available to me, I know this sounds dumb considering the power increases some of you guys have gone for, but just out of interest does remaping reduce the life of the engine/transmission components or are the stock engine/transmission components designed to withstand much higher power than stock? Many thanks! |

I haven't heard that before. ^
I'd like to know is Cobb ever going to chime in on some of the questions asked...

1. If BMWNA wants to know, they will know.
2. I have never heard of someone having warranty issues arise due to a prior DME flash, assuming it was uninstalled. If your car is otherwise stock, BMW has no particular reason to suspect anything. They will do their standard scan of existing and shadow faults, though most will be cleared. To truly wipe your shadow faults you would need a BT cable/INPA DCAN. But again, if they have no reason to dig, they aren’t going to do so. So if you are tune only, your chances of having issues are extremely small. With all that said, people who mod their cars for power while hoping to incur close to $0 in wear costs are walking a thin line. You don’t up the output of a motor by a significant % without accelerating the rate of failure for peripheral parts. Sparknotes: There is no free lunch.
