Hey All,
Just purchased my E90 2 weeks ago, talked to my dealer today and they told me that they have the software but it's not working on most cars and that there expected an updated next month. My sales rep also told me to hold off when it comes in so they can do it on a few other cars first then he'll call me and update the DRL and autolocks for free. Not sure about the clown nose blinking though. I've read a few threads here and from what I can gather it does seem like some of the dealerships have it and are trying to implement it, but seems bugy which is why it's taking 8 hours for some cars, and just plain failing in others. I'd suggest holding off for a few months so they can figure it out(on someone elses cars). Also anyone know how much DRL effect the longevity of the xenon lights and how much they cost to replace when they do finally go out? |

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think our warranty covers replacing bulbs within the 4/yr 50k miles? So i doubt you have to worry about the longevity of the xenons.
Edit: regarding problems with the software, my service advisor didn't inform me of any problems. He just said it'll take longer than expected.

I think the problem with the software is that it's very uggy which is why it works for some, doesn't for others, and takes forever for others. Think about it, how long should it take a computer to process DRL.

Got my car back with the software update. Took it in Friday and got it back today. The other thing they installed was the alarm.
I didn't notice anything new in the menus on how I can change certain things that others have asked for. Since my car was pre Sept built, I kinda knew nothing would change.

My car is in as of 7:30am this morning.
I'm rocking the Ford Focus loaner, it's just GREAT! ...................... I'll let you guys know if the software update does anything worth noting. |

I just had my 325i updated. Not really worth the 5 hours in the mall when I am sick and took a day off (dealer ran out of loaner, and would only drop me off at a mall near by). All i got from the update was the pull away auto lock. they weren't able to enable the clown nose to bink without alarm.

Is anyone being charged a fee for software update?
I was asked to pay $115 at my dealership. This is a poll of sorts in the sense that if even one person was charged (right or wrong), at least I have that data point.
Thanks and Cheers, |

He said if there is ever a situation when I cannot get a BMW loaner to get him and let him remedy the situation. Hopefully I wont have to use this, and hopefully if I do, he'll keep his word. At any rate, I picked up my car on 9/30 and it came with Autolocks, and DRL options in iDrive and so on. |

As I stated in other forum, seeing questions over and over again regarding software updates has me wondering whether I made the right decision.
Any corporation should be able and willing to produce a document which shows all software changes made with any release. Again, maybe I should have went with the Lexus..... |
