Interior Options for Montego Blue Car
Posted this in the color thread, but also thought this would get more looks. I am ordering my 1 this weekend, and am looking at Montego Blue or Sedona Red. Am leaning towards the blue as no one in the area has ordered yet (original), and I just prefer the color. Wanted to hear some opinions on the best looking interior. Black with poplar trim/Beige with the walnut trim, etc. Let me know your thoughts.

Having seen the montego blue in person, I would suggest one of two options depending on your tastes. It also depends on whether you are getting leather or not. I think you can't go wrong with the black leather/leatherette. I think it'd also look good with the savannah beige leather as that would also give it the two tone on the doors and such.
As far as trim goes, certain people really love the poplar, it didn't do much for me, and I haven't seen the walnut in person, so hard to judge. Depends whether you want a classier, more luxurious look or a sporty look. If you want classier, I think the combos you said. If you want sportier, you could opt for the high gloss black or glacier aluminum, though I would suggest the black with the beige leather if you go that route and the aluminum with the black if you go that route. Hope that helps. |

I got the Montego blue with Black leather and Aluminum trim. However I also considered getting Terracotta* leather and high gloss black trim. My wife has a similar dark redish/brown leather in her Miata and it looks good against her blue paint.
Dan * Terracotta is not available via the website but it is an option in the brochure. |

Are you looking for a "classy" look or a "sporty "look?
Are you old, like me (over 50) or a young pup (20-30 ish) ? This information will help us help you.

Use the "Build your own" feature on the bmwusa.com website. It has the color combos you're considering so you can get an idea of which you like best.
A couple things to keep in mind that you can't see on the website... 1) The aluminum has a sort of fish scale pattern to it. Some people like it, others hate it, but none of the pictures really represent what it looks like in person 2) The high gloss black has metallic flakes in it which cause it to exhibit purple tones in certain light. Some people who bought it expecting a piano black were disappointed. Dan |

Newbs, check out Chris Kurn's page/footer thing as it has pics of his walnut interior. Looked nice. i know he's posted pics, too, so you can find those by searching for his posts as well.
TP135i - Sad to hear that 30 is a pup. And here I feel old. Do you really have to include us with those little 20 somethings? |

Try Terra or Beige or Grey
All of those colors are winners with Montego. BTW, pick up a 3 series catalog and you will see Montego/Saddle (close to Terra) as one of BMW's featured color combinations. They call is a "Classic" combo.

I like contrast in the interior. If I had got gray leather then I probably would have got the gloss black or poplar trim. I think the gray leather and aluminum would blend together too much.

I'm still worried that I'm going to hate pattern on the aluminum even if it does contrast well with the black leather.
Either way I'm sure the car will drive just as awesome! Dan |

I personally think any of the two tone interiors go absolutely great with montego: lemon, savannah beige, and terra all look amazing. I personally went for lemon because I think it will only show up among us "in the know" sorts, and it contrasts very well with montego. That being said, so do SB and terra. anyway...they all look great IMO. I think the grey poplar goes well with the terra, but not so much with the lemon and SB because of the brownish tints in it. I went with HG black on my car, but had I gotten SB, I would have gotten HG Black as well. Two tone interiors, especially terra and lemon, show to other "in the know" sorts that you knew what you were doing when you ordered the car, although ultimately it is what you think appeals to you the best: what will make you feel "special" when you are driving down the road

About Me
I am 24, about to turn 25 next month. I like the sporty exterior with a classy interior if that makes any sense, which is why the beige with walnut catches my eye. Living in New York, I have not seen lemon as an option, and think it will be too light for how dirty everything gets with the snow. Regarding that post to check out someone's interior, where can I find this? I am a newby.
