Tire Pressure @ Track

Hi,

I am a novice on tire pressure.

I would like to find more information about different tire pressure can affect the car?

and should I follow the PSI on the driver side door panel when the tire is cold?

For example, in the morning the tire is 30psi. but door panel say should be 35psi. So I should increase it by 5 psi?

after 1 session of the track, the tire become 40psi. should I lower it to 35psi?

and how do I look at the tire, do I have to increase or decrease the tire?

anyone can share some document/link/guide for me?

Thanks you.

Toni you've just opened a big bag of worms here with this question haha. Ideally you want to adjust your tires at the track so when hot they're over inflated so you get maximum grip, but not so little air that your tires roll over and destroy the shoulders and give you uneven wear. What that pressure is will vary by car, setup, tire, and ambient conditions. Its why checking your tp as soon as you get off the track is important.

You can also change the balance of how a car is handling by adding to taking away a couple psi in the tires front/back or left/right. Generally the colder the day the higher you start your pressure....on an 85 degree weather day i'll start with 33 psi cold and move things around from there when I come off the track. I've found my tires are happy right around 38psi when hot.

That's just what works for me. If its your first track event I'd say set at 35 cold and ask your instructor or friends there to help
