Major Power loss above 4,200rpm - Dyno's Enclosed

Hi everyone.

2008 135i MT w/ 14K miles. Mods: DCI, JB4, Berk ******* midpipes and axleback. Map 1. Running Mobil 93oct.

Car has run great until 3 days ago when I was getting on the highway WOT in 3rd and somewhere between 4K-5K the car literally stopped accelerating completely and the rpm's hung until I let off the gas it was extremely abrupt. Ever since that incident I've noticed a huge power loss at upper RPM which is consistent at all times any all gears (above 4,500 or so).

I thought I might just be paranoid so I strapped her on the dyno today after work and confirmed what I was feeling.

Map 0:

Map 1:

You can see clearly in the Map 1 dyno the power loss I'm feeling around 4,300 where torque drops off the map and the power never makes it anywhere near it should be. I have no idea what could be going on, I have no CEL or codes. I should also note that Max cool does not do anything on my car when I select the option to enable it....is something wrong with the JB4 maybe? I should also note paying attention to my hijacked boost gauge that boost seems to be fine, its right around 13psi tapering to 10psi up top.

Did you fill up recently? I would think bad gas might be a possibility...

True that..To the op bellow,a small boost leak would maybe do it,but it Also depends where and how much..My buddy came to my house last week saying that his car felt a bit weak,so I told him to check the clamps if there were loose ..The lower charge pipe from the driver side intercooler wasn't super tight,so I put a socket it and the turned it A full turn till very tight ..He called me 1 hour later stating that his turbo spooled ,hit harder, picked up 2 psi ,and held 13.5 till redline ..Thats a difference if you ask me,so turbo cars are very temperamental ..Every little thing counts on them to have them run tip top!

You have JB4, and a dyno. How about a log?

IMHO....that might give you just a little bit more info then a bunch of people guessing what your problem is over the internet. Just saying.

From watching my hijacked fuel>boost gauge, it doesn't seem to drop off really bad, bu ti can't remember what it was like before...

I didn't have access to my usb cable yesterday, I've got it with me at work now and hte cowl is off/etc. Soon as I get done with a couple meetings I"m gonna go makes logs.

i would also think its some sort of leak, look at the AFRs, they get pretty rich around 4.7k-5k and on after. unless the jb4 went bad

11.4-11.8 doesn't seem that rich to me. What are most people seeing for AFR?

Did you try to redue the firmware for the JB4 to make sure it wasnt something with the firmware. I cant see the log either. Get in touch with terry from burger tuning he might be able to help you also.

Terry and I are already communicating with each other on this.

I had thought about going back to my 7/24 firmware to see if that clears anything up. I still can't believe how bad the stock fmic is after looking at the logs, just a 3rd gear pull and seeing a 36% rise in IAT.

I had similar problem.

Found out that my FORGE DV's we're corrupt. Back to stock and works like a train toilet.

when was the last time you changed your points and condenser? I have this problem a lot in my Austin if there's too much carbon build up.

Oh wait, I'm on the 1 series forum.

Never mind.

did you have a loss of power like this but logs still showed an ability to reach boost targets?
