behind rear license plate bracket

Hey all,

What's the white stuff that rear license plate bracket screws are bolted on?
Looks like clay maybe but I'm not sure.
Anyone know how to fill that part in? I need to reinforce it because the bracket is rattling a bit

My bracket has some rubber/foam pads in the four corners that keep the bracket from touching the paint. No rattling from mine. If your doesn't have any, go to Homedepot or Lowes and they will have a bunch of foam pads that are sticky on one side. They have them for cupboard doors and for the bottom of chairs...all sorts of different ones.

Thanks for the tip. I actually complained and the dealership installed two tiny foam pads and I wanted to buy some myself and add some more.
But what I'm talking about is the white stuff (clay?) where you screw your brackets on. It needs some reinforcement and I don't know what exactly it is

Mine has some white vinyl threads that the screw goes into. The vinyl piece does fit a bit loose but I think once it is pulled on by a screw it holds itself in place fine. When there is no screw in it, it fits a bit loose. Once you tighten the screw it holds tight. They look like those drywall hangers you screw into drywall to hang pictures from.

When I took mine off to polish the area I noticed some spots where the bracket was rubbing. Unfortunately I didn't get the time to fully remove all the scratches behind it but I plan to focus more on this next time around. Some good polish polish should be able to work them out.
