How to set mirrors to fold on locking? Help

Does anyone know how to set the mirrors to fold (the 1's that have the premium package) when locking the car?

If you have the Nav system with iDrive I believe it's accessed via the settings menu. If not then I have no idea. Did you read the owners manual?

Yeah I read through the owners manual. I read somewhere that if you hold the lock button on your remote it will fold the mirrors after a few seconds. I haven't tried this and I'm not sure if it will stay like that when I lock normally the next time.

I could not find the option on the IDrive in our 335

I will try holding down the lock button though!

AFAIK the feature no longer works. It worked in the MY 2006 E90 but has lost the feature ever since....

I didn't know you could do this - in fact, I don't think you can - but be pleased to hear that I'm wrong...

Ummm
Why don't you just fold the mirrors with the door button before you exit the vehicle ?

Just today I was reading through the manual and did not see where you can fold the mirrors while locking the car.

Yep....The little round button just left of the left-right adjustment switch is the button that folds the mirrors.
I have premium and comfort access.....not sure if that button is part of one of those packages.

of course you can just hit the button but i would love to have it automatically done. it would be such an easy thing to program ... can't have everything i want i guess

Check out http://www.mods4cars.com/

They have a device you can wire up for the 3 series that does this. I have emailed them asking for support on the 1 series. I'm sure if people put in requests it may get done faster.

Product Features:
  • Remote window control: One-Touch operation of the windows and sunroof with the original remote on all models (US and Euro)
  • Automatic door unlocking when ignition is turned off. Aviod having to pull the door handles twice to get out.
  • Automatic folding mirrors by remote (Factory option motorized mirrors required)
  • User programmable: The module can be individually enabled or disabled. All settings are retained even if the car battery is disconnected.
  • Shop/Diagnose mode: If activated the module is completely passive, as if it was not installed at all. It becomes invisible to diagnostic tools.

Folding mirrors are part of the Premium Package. According to both iDrive and non iDrive manuals, the only way to control the folding mirrors is with the door mounted switch. They will fold in up to about 12 mph and automatically fold out at 25 mph.

My 135 folds its mirrors when the car is locked. There has to be a setting but I cannot remember how I got it started. They fold out automatically at about 30km/h. It didn't always do this but one day after fiddling with the mirrors I shut the car with thumb on door handle (C/A) and the mirrors started folding up? They have been folding automatically ever since.

If you lock the car with the Key and turn it 2x clockwise the mirrors will fold in along with the windows going up and top if equiped.

Interesting - it doesn't work on my 128i as only the windows and top operate from the key. I wonder if that is just a 135i feature.

As far as I know the mods4cars product is the only thing that would allow this.

They need a test car in socal. if anyone is interested, contact me.
