ABS/DSC/DTC Fault 130i

Hi All,

I have a 2006 pre facelift 130i and have had the ABS/DSC/DTC warnings show up in my dash (shown on photo). I've done some reading up and a failed ABS module appears to be a common fault on the E87 models. These warnings only show up intermittently, but have been staying on for several days before disappearing of late. Strangely, if I turn my wheel full lock to reverse out of a parking bay for instance, the warnings disappear.

I'll obviously go and get things checked out to see what codes are thrown.

Has anyone had a similar issue, and if so, what was the cause and fix? I understand it could just be a faulty wheel sensor. If so, how would this be diagnosed versus a failed ABS module?

Any help/thoughts appreciated!

I'd take the front wheels off and check there is no damage to the ABS sensor cable. Also if possible disconnect and re connect it in case there is a lose connection.

Hopefully that is all it is since going full lock removes the warning.

I have the same warning lights on my car except for the ABS sensor. And I have quoted BMW Trivett Classic to fix it and they're charging me 200p/hr to find the problem.. Not gonna go ahead and do that, but finding a cheaper alternative at the moment.

long shot, but have you had the battery disconnected at all recently? Our MX5 you have to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock a few times to reset the steering angle sensors whenever the battery is disconnected.

it could be the steering wheel sensor with those three combos. Had the same thing happen on the e90

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll disconnect and reconnect the sensors (give them a clean while I'm at it), try the Steering Wheel Sensor reset and see how I go.

No, haven't had the battery disconnected recently. I'll try the steering angle sensor reset anyway though. Cheers.

Yeah, I bought it three years old with 24,000 on the clock and only do 6,000 k's per year myself! I make sure I do a few track days per year though to blow out any cobwebs.
