Using the "Real Time Traffic Info"
Greetings, I have a 2011 w/ the HK stereo and Navigation, which I bought used. Looking back at the car's spec sheet I see this on it.
It seems that if I go through the effort of typing in a destination and getting guidance to it, roads are indeed updated with closures and etc. I'm curious how this works? I don't recall ever pairing anything to my phone - does the car have some sort of communication device inside of it that I didn't, until now, know about? I haven't had much chance to play around with it. Any chance I could have a Nav screen up, no destination programmed in just showing where I am at any given moment, but with have traffic jams (i.e. green vs. red roads) overlayed onto it? I check my phone's Google Map's app sometimes before I head somewhere, but if the car could do something similar on the Nav screen it'd be pretty awesome. These may be newb questions, but until tonight I didn't realize I even had this ability. |

Can't delete my own thread.
I found a lot of info in an (RTFM!) online owner's manual, finally searched for the right thing. When Navigation is up, hitting the "options" button in the center console, then scrolling down some on the screen, opened up a lot of options. I selected to get the updates, which appear to come through one or more local radio stations. I'll give it a whirl next time I am out. |

RTTI is updated through low-frequency radio data stations provided by a few contracting companies. It gets "pushed" data about every 20min. Personally, I wish it updated more frequently.
