Tim I kick myself every time I see these prices.
When I took delivery of my car it came with the wrong trim and I was discussing with the dealer of swapping over to CF trim back in June 08 when the price was much lower and I was to pay the difference between the stock trim.. Then dealer went on a 3 week vacation and me being impatient couldnt wait for the dealer to return and opted for the piano black trim..... Which still looks good but nothing compared to the CF trim... |

I agree - the Glacier Silver Aluminum is metal, you can tell the difference by the feel and touch. There is no way you would scratch it with cufflinks. At least that you would notice it. The pattern would help hide any scratches.

I can see the textured finish of the Glacier hiding the same mark that was very obvious on the brushed finish |

^ i ordered the glacier over brushed partly for the durability, also, i've seen the brushed finish tarnish brown on an old M3 in the BMW 2nd hand yard which doesn't seem to be able to be polished off

Let me get it straight. I have the silver trim that have diamond pattern in it... so it is definitely not brushed aluminum but glacier?

True. From what I believe, the brushed aluminium is the smooth aluminium trim. The diamond pattern trim is glacier.

The "brushed" finish has no physical texture to it - it's a completely even surface. And the one i have, has a strip (about 10%-15% of the width) along the length of each trim piece that is highly polished. The remainder is matt finished. I hope that makes sense. |
