Does anyone know what the gain of HP is on the 128i when a K&N cold air intake is installed. I have just purchased one, and I am waiting for it to be shipped. I have been reading that it does increase the throttle response but there are no specific numbers on how much HP you gain. And does it effect the sound on the car either. I installed a K&N on my envoy denali, and you could hear that thing coming from a mile away it was so loud

I just bought the filter yesterday, it is being shipped. It is suppose to be delivered within the next couple of days. I ordered it online at www.car-stuff.com, I believe you can also find the filter on www.autoanything.com. They have other brand of filters besides K&N but I trust K&N the most because I have used their brand before on my previous car. The filter only cost 48$ plus another additional 7$ added on for shipping.

You just bought a filter that's been soaked in oil, this has ruined many 996 turbo engines, I believe. I am sure this is enough of a concern to stay away from this type of filter. I can't remember what's it called... I think paper is what you need. For the price I would say it's not worth a potential engine failure (without a warranty), as I believe warranties are denied on the basis of the aftermarket part directly affecting the failed part.

if you bought a drop in filter, there are laws to protect you against using non-oem parts - they can't deny you warranty if its an oem spec part. i think a drop in filter would fit this. this means if you buy a autozone cotton filter BMW cannot void the warranty because you did not use BMW parts. I do not know anything specific to porsches, but i do know a LOT of people who have put 100,000's of miles on this type filter on everything from civics, to corvettes to EVO's. I've had K&N or "oil soaked" filters on all of my cars, roughly 50k miles on my tiburon, and 30,000 on my STI majority of cone filters that i'm aware of are also of this type. (k&N, injen, fram and aem all use this type). Quote:

So far, nothing but happy reviews from ALL InJen intakes. Definitely take a look at these intakes on your 135 and you’ll see that InJen will be a great choice for your car!!

AS above how does this help people with a N/A engine? Maybe you can post in the 135 section they might be more appreciative!!!!! If you want to advertise your business in the N/A section come up with some after market options that suit, don't just fluid a thread with B/S for your own gain!! |

I think there are a few available, but most are on the very expensive side i.e. Gruppe M.
However there is the possibility of adapting the 330i CAI; http://store.bimmerworld.com/shared/...t=products.asp http://store.bimmerworld.com/shared/...t=products.asp I guess the main problem is none of these suppliers seem to be adaptor or testing for compatibility. |
