Unsettled rear and ridiculous fast wear tires

Hi folks,

I DD my 11 E82 135i with ~92k miles on the clock. When I go through rough surfaces (like cracks and potholes), I feel that the rear can be very unsettled moving sideways. It seems that the response from the left and right is not synced.

Another big issue on the rear is that the rear tires wore out at a ridiculous rate. I never tracked it, and only hit the canyons very occasionally, but the rear tires (225/40/18, 255/35/18 PS4S) wore out after ~6k miles - and I had replaced 3 pairs of rear since buying the car last September. I did the alignment in June while replacing the second pair, but it seems that it didn't help at all with the wear as those are gone in 6 months too. The fronts are still strong after 20k miles.
Have no idea what went wrong...

Alignment. Toe. Tires aren't pointing the right way and sort of take turns being the ones trying to drive straight while making the other one scrub.

What are the alignment specs since you just had it done?

I blame the too small subframe bushing for the unsettled rear end. Right when I got my car at 62k miles I noticed on the first drive that big cracks in the ground seemingly pulled my rear end around as I went over them. The tire wear is most likely toe control as the other folks have mentioned

Also, check the condition of your rear shocks.

The ridiculous thing is that Big O Tires did not give me the alignment sheet at the time, and I totally forgot about that...

I went back to that store for new rears and here are the current specs:


I felt the roll had been improved on the way home, but it seemed that puzzle had not been fully resolved.

Agreed that the 'unsettled' feeling at the rear is the horrible, awful, no-good stock rear subframe bushings. Swap those out for the M3, poly, or aluminum bushings and that problem goes away.
