Brisbane members - help wanted reinstalling stock airbox

Hi all
I'm currently reverting my car to stock and am 80% through reinstalling the factory airbox but I can't seem to get the two intake hoses with clamps reinstalled. It's as if they're too short and keep popping off. :

This should be a very easy job but there must be some trick I'm missing...

Is any Brisbane member willing to drop by to lend a hand (PM me)? 6 pack of your favourite brew if you get the two pipes installed for me.

Weird. Can’t help I’m in Perth sorry.
Are you trying to install with airbox top cover on? Maybe take it off and do lower portion first. Maybe that helps?

Thanks Rajvosa. Yes I am installing the complete airbox but I've removed the whole factory shroud and cabin filter to give myself more space at the rear of the engine. Thus I don't think removing the airbox cover will help.

Anyone know the trick to the two hoses? Is a special tool needed to pull them on?

ive done mine on 1M about 3 or 4 times last couple of months and never had any trouble. is your lower airbox part sitting in the correct spot? it has to sit and be pushed over those like rubber grommets.

Yes airbox is definately in the correct spot as it's sitting directly on the three rubber grommets and can't move. It's as if the two hoses just won't push onto the airbox fittings correctly. Did you use a special tool to pull the hoses on or just pushed them on by hand? Any special grease/spray to make the job easier?

Unless both those inlets have moved out away from the airbox respectively? Assuming you had dci prior, they do move a bit.

I'll second what Rajvosa said. Pop the airbox off the mounts and see if you can first pull both inlet hose closer towards the centre first. From memory, it was easier if you fit the rear inlet first, slightly tighten the clamps, then pop the box on the topmost gromet point. Next try to fit the front inlet and when the hose is on, push the box down on the rest of the mounting points. Adjust and tighten both hose clamp as required.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the tips. Airbox is now sorted.
