HP Autowerks, Inc. AST Coilover System for your 128i 135i
Proven on the street and track, this system is unmatched by any other system on the market. HP Autowerk's unique AST dampers matched with our custom Swift springs offers superb street manners and unmatched cornering capabilities for the track. Offering separate external compression(Double Adjustable Only) and rebound adjusters, the dampers can be tuned from street comfort to a full race setup in a matter of minutes.
Not looking for that slammed look? Or just want to retain stock ride hight, but want better handling? We can customize the spring rate and height for you! All other off the shelf coilovers can't do that for you! We use the highest quality motorsport springs sourced from Swift. Why Swift? Swift's R & D team created material, called H5S.TW, which is stronger then regular silicon chrome material. Because of this material, we could make the spring wire thinner, and could wind the springs with fewer coils, which greatly decreased weight while dramatically increasing available stroke. We also use thrust sheets where possible. Here is why: Thrust sheets provide a variety of benefits to coilover systems. As a spring becomes compressed the coils attempt to distribute the energy by unwinding. This is called twisted force. The unwinding makes the spring rate irregular. By allowing the spring to smoothly rotate around the perch during compression, the spring rate will return to normal. Thrust sheets also help dampening and rebound of struts too. Thrust sheet?s bearing action allowing the rotation of a spring allow the load on the spring to be more evenly Distributed which reduces lateral shock shaft load. Increased lateral load on shock shafts cause a reduction in the struts ability to rely on valves for dampening force. *Coilover shown with optional helper/tender springs. Please call for specific applications. *Camber plates are optional, but recommended for best handling performance(combine 4100's with camber plates and get a discount!) *We stock all popular rates of high quality Swift springs. *Custom Swift spring length for customers looking for stock ride heights. *Optional AST 5000 series dampers are available(5300 series shown above). *Others may have this kit advertised at a much lower price, but it's without springs and Swift thrust sheets. Applications for E36 and E46(including M3), E82, E90, E92, and E93. Read about the NEW AST 4150: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...&highlight=ast ONLY HP Autowerk's AST and Swift combo comes with FREE Swift thrust sheets and ANY Swift spring rates at no extra charge. That is a $150 value! I had really had my sights set on a TCK setup, but these have got me interested. It seems like the 4000 series D/A setup would be most similar to the TCK setup and the 5200 series is a D/A setup similar to the Moton Clubsports. Please correct me if my comparison is incorrect. What kind of maintanance is required with these? Am I going to need a nitrogen tank for the 5200's and are they reliable on the street? How long will they last before a rebuild is needed? The other big question is has any of these systems been done on a 135. It's nice to TC truckin' around in a 135i with his kit on it, but I know there are other systems that can be as good or better; however the price point makes them much less marketable.
I must be a little nutty because I'm really considering doing the 5200's with all the M3 suspension bits on a car that is driven mainly on the street. I'd like to do some track days and such, but what I'd really like is a "reasonable" ride with handling that would rival my M3/4 that's on propart koni D/A's with 450#/600# springs and monoballs everywhere.

Both the 4000 and 5000 series can be had in S/A or DA. The 5000 series can be had in a triple adjust as well with remote canisters. 4200s(D/A) with our custom Swift springs and all the M3 suspension bits should make your 135i handle as if on rails and rival your M3. TCK D/A is very good, but the AST 4200(D/A) is better. |

hmm these look very promising what would spring rate be for $35XX D/A coilover?
and have you ever driven them on the street are the firm but comfortable(like a weekend track car), or just firm and bouncy(like a koni challenge car)? Are they built as street coilovers meant to be tracked, or the opposite?? Great looking product very interested |

With proper spring rates the ride will be firmer than stock, it won't be nearly as firm as Koni challenge cars. |
