1M Style Exhaust on 135i
Hi Guys,
Ive been doing alot of research on how to fit a 1M exhaust on a 135i (or any other e82). So it all comes down to the trunk floor (multifunction Pan) that the battery sits in, the 1M one is different and therefore you can fit the axleback muffler setup right behind the rear bumper instead of having to go down the route of doing a stupid setup like the Eisenmann/Remus (no offence to all who have bought these already). The multifunction pan is approx $800 from locals but have seen them for $250 over seas, considering that is the only mod required (maybe some wiring aswell to reach for the battery further to the left of where it currently sits) why hasn't anyone done it before, as the sound of the 1M exhaust is insanely better then any 135i Quad currently available or even a custom setup that accomodates for the current room. |

I agree and also think the look is so much nicer.
if you know of anyone wanting to do this mod, I have an OEM 1M exhaust i'll sell them for reasonable price that will make this mod worthwhile.

Well its a plastic pan.....so it has to be just some screws. From bmw diagrams ive been theres screws that hold it in place. Being plastic would be that it has to be a pretty easy swap over, 1-2 hours work at most.

Is there a part number for the 1m pan? Or is it gonna be a "pull off of a wrecked 1M" rarity?

It's hard to tell but it looks like this may be the trim piece you need:
41347193222 $223.00 I took this off RealOEM. Here's a link: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...97&hg=41&fg=25 Jim

Draxus you are 100% correct. For the Aussies out there, BMW South Atlanta will delivery battery well (Multifunction Pan) to australia for $300 (thats including the part). I havn't been able to locate the heat shielding part numbers so that would be appreciated if anyone knows, otherwise the right exhaust hanger can be easily made up anyway. I have a hartge diffuser so I plan on making something to fit on to that, most likely a half muffled half un-muffled setup like akrapovic but with the factory exhaust valve somehow retrofitted to it.

There's at least one other piece to the puzzle: the fuel tank evaporative emissions canister is in a different location on the 1M. the lines to and from it are rigid plastic which might take some persuasion to move into the 1M position. When I gave the battery tray part number to our local BMW dealer, they couldn't find it in their system. I had them look twice. This makes no sense to me, since they have to be able to supply the part if a 1M needs accident repair. I looked into this several months ago. Also, the rear valance will have to be modified: the exhaust tips of the 1M don't line up with anything on the 135i valance. My plan was to cut across the bottom of the valance to allow for the 4 tips, but that's a little hokey.

Thanks for the canister info mate. As for the part, I've ordered it and will have it in a few weeks so will let you know if its fits right in. As for the tips, I have a hartge diffuser so will be designing a quad to fit with that. I'm aiming for akrapovic evo sound so fingers crossed it works, I have a fairly experience exhaust guy doing the work so we may even go down the route of fabricating our own muffler

Adrian at Ramp Auto Group does a lot of custom work for a lot of different cars, has done a fair bit of work on N54's. as for body shop, I don't need on for this mod as I'm not doing the 1M quarter panels just a proper 1M quad exhaust, but if your just curious then Bowra Panel and Paint in Osborne park is what a lot of the car dealerships use Incase a brand new car is damaged so probably a safe bet.
Oh and CGMike, I'm going to try and get photos and do a general journal of the process and then put it up once its all done, hopefully with and insane sound clip |
