Shell V-power

I was always using Mobil premium 98 until one day I had some coupons for Shell V-power.

Drove normally and didn't take notice of anything.. but after a couple of stops/starts city driving I started to feel an improvement in throttle response and slight torque improvement, but it was more the sharpness of the throttle. I wasn't looking out for anything when I initially felt it so its more than just placebo effect. I also decided to do some hard pulls during the week and am very happy with the result. Sure it cost way more, but the ironic thing I noticed is.. I also seem to get similiar range as the Mobil 98 even with less fuel in the tank.

I also tried BP Ultimate vs Shell V-Power but couldn't tell any difference between the two.

Whats fuel are you guys on and anyone done a dyno test with different fuel types?

In USA BMW recommends using BP. When in Canada I use Shell. Haven't noticed any difference between the two.

Shell V power is the only gasolene in Canada without any added ethanol so I use it exclusively.
I have seen reports that the HPFP failures could be due to ethanol ....

On my previous 135, I used Shell V power since day 1 and hpfp still failed at 8k km.

I think the best you can say about ethanol is the engine is built to "tolerate" a 10% mix, acording to this dealer anything over 10% may effect your warranty !
http://www.bmwmtkisco.com/ethanol-bmw-engine.htm
I know from experience that a dealer will test the gas in your tank if you have any performance problems.

For those north of the border, if Chevron 94 or Esso 93 is available they don't have Ethanol. But because of this pure mix, at least both Chevron 94 and Shell 91 carries an equivalent premium (17c out here in BC). Since I can't get Chevron 94 down in the states for the occasional day trip, I'm sticking to Shell to minimize the ECU learning/adjustment

Have always run Shell 91 previously, but after hearing about so many people running E85 mixes without problems, figured whatever, and now I exclusively run Petro Can 94. Higher octane, more power.

From the Shell website...
WHY SHOULD YOU USE SHELL NITROGEN ENRICHED GASOLINE?
•It is the only gasoline that contains the patented and exclusive Shell Nitrogen Enriched Cleaning System
•Extensively tested for more than half-million miles in various engines and vehicles
•Actively cleans performance-robbing gunk from intake values and fuel injectors
•Acts like a protective barrier to shield fuel injectors and intake valves against future gunk build up
•Exceeds the stringent requirements of the world’s top automakers – Audi, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen – and is certified as a TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline
•No other gasoline protects better!

wow!

Us fuel is shockingly watered down, we have v power which is definitely the best. our standard unleaded is between 95-97 ron. At the ring they sell high octane which was 103 I think. I really noticed the torque increase when I ran that whilst in Germany.

You can keep the valves (and intercooler) cleaner with an Oil Catch Can.

People always said gas was the same from everywhere. However, personally I always use 76, chevron, or shell.

I remember in my old tahoe I got 11MPG in NY and by the time I got to texas I was getting 15+. Different states have different regs and gas quality/composition and RVP is all over the map from place to place.
