I highly highly doubt the freight forwarder would fudge the customs value for you. You'd need to get the seller to do it.

I had to buy an ECU from getbmwparts and ship it via hopshopgo (comgateway). It was over $1000 and I thought they'd just ship it, if it gets caught via customs id pay the fee's. Nope, comgateway will charge you that customs fee/gst beforehand.
I tried to get a receipt from them to show it had actually been paid to customs, however they just kept redirecting me to other people in the company so I eventually just gave up. I just wanted proof that our government got it, and not them!

Nope. I didn't have to pay it again. They charged me for it automatically before they would allow it to be sent from their factory in the US.
I just wanted a receipt from them to prove that it had been paid to our government and not them keeping it and only paying for it when it's been asked for.

ComGateway didn't have anything to do with it apart from me declaring how much the goods were before they arranged the shipping details.

I'm just curious how much tax will be get charged when it lands in Aus??
I'm looking at buying some coilover from the states and obviously even after conversion it's still cheaper but I just wanted a rough idea on how much tax will i get charged if my goods were $1500usd plus shipping.

(AUD Value of Item/s + AUD Shipping and Insurance + Duty) + GST = Total So in your case, using todays exchange rate, assuming $150 USD shipping/insurance, 5% duty and 10% GST: ($1995.48 + $199.55 + $99.77) + $229.48 You'd be looking at roughly ~$2524.28 landed for your coilovers. Hope i've done this right lol!
