And another poll... AUSSIES ONLY
For those of us WITH a liner, I was wondering if there was a correlation between environment temperature and the liner, as mentioned was claimed by a dealer in a recent post. So, what state do you live in?

Would it be worth asking when our car's were built? Does this make a difference? I don't have a liner. Not sure how to tell when mine was built; there's a 09/08 on the VIN plate under the bonnet, but that ca't be right as I collected mine in September.

Makes no difference Duncan when the car was built..
There have been several threads in the past on this topic and the build date was insignificant.. |

My car was built in September 08, I live in Hobart and I don't have one. I doubt location can be the reason because BMW cannot know where the Aussie cars will end up . I could choose to move from Hobart to Darwin and take the car with me.

Sure why not
We could plot Colour/Location/Build date/Transmission/Engine size/Body Style and see whether any sort of pattern emerges.

Maybe the Germans are playing with our heads! They are a crazy bunch.
Maybe it comes down to one guy in the prod line who only works Wednesdays casual and he always puts in a liner! :roundel: By the by mine hasn't go one and I live in Canberra, know to be one of the chillier places in Aus! |

Wasn't this solved awhile back?
My recollection was BMW has stopped installing bonnet liners to increase engine noise. Cars of late should definitely not have any. Around the middle of the year some cars were still coming delivered with liners as BMW makes the car bodies in advance, and depending on colour demand a body can be a number of months old before it slips back into the production line. I'm sure that was the answer on here, or over on babybmw.net.

I'd rather hear the engine than worry about the liner. Might have to drill some holes in the bonnet, that would help too!!

I have a liner and it still sounds great. Most of the music comes from the rear end anyway, so the liner won't make much diff IMO.
