DTC 60 or 70

Has anyone had experience running different combinations of DTC 60's and 70's at different times.(meaning have run all 60's then all 70's, all 60's, then 70/60 split, etc) I currently run 60's all around and am wondering if the extra torque of the 70's is necessary/not too harsh. More or less looking for a real world comparison. I appreciate all of you input!

I don't believe they make 70s for the rears; So I've only used 70/60 combination; Great stopping power, but not easy to modulate and the 70s felt like the fell off after a couple track days.

Trying Carbotech XP16/12 next.

Pixel-Sounds great let me know how they work out. Brake ducting kit I have been working on is almost done. Finally got intakes in mail today. Had to have them custom made. Will create a thread for them soon.

nice; no idea Pagids were available for our cars. Is that a BMW part number? Or a similar shape with another number? Pagids last for freaking ever;

surprisingly they have one compound for our car and it's their best RS29. this is what half of the race teams in the big league use. they are made for endurance and used in lemans. rotors gonna take a beating next time. lets hope they can take it

Ask someone to watch you threshold braking. The front wheel should lock either a moment before the rear or simultaneously. If the rear wheel locks first, DTC-70 in front will be better. If the front wheel is already locking first, DTC-70 won't help. Also, if the back end is coming around too easily in trail braking, DTC-70 in front would reduce that.

Thanks for all the great comparisons! Pixel-how much were the Pagid's? Will be interested to find out if they last you longer than Hawk DTC! Going through a set almost every weekend is getting expensive for me!

Does it feel like the back end comes around too easily trail braking, or does it ever start to fishtail on threshold braking? Anything like that?

Where did you order them? Do they make 135i rear pads?

I ordered them from northeast motorsports in Ill (847.304.5515). they are one of the few distributors. front pads run $410 and the rears $287. these are endurance race pads that are widely used in 24 hrs of Lemons and such. so they are supposed to last the whole race. I figure they should be good for 6 track days at that rate. a bit costly but you probably make up for it with less pad changes.

Nice hunting. I found the rear pads for 197.50 euros from Riga, Lithuania.

RS29 fronts for my Stoptech cost $440 at TopBrakes, only $90 more than Hawk. I will definitely try them next.

edit: Actually, I'd like to hear how well the Pagids work for swapping back and forth with street pads. The Hawks get very abrasive cold, which cleans off the rotors before and after an event. Pagids are ceramic based, so they should be very easy on rotors but maybe not so good at bedding in after my Cool Carbon street pads.

...adding: Hunting around, I see one popular approach with ceramic Pagid or Carbotech pads is to take the street pads off and drive one day with cold Hawk Blues to clean the rotors before putting the Pagids or Carbotechs on. Otherwise, you can brush the rotors clean or swap rotors too when you swap the pads.
