205/50 17's for winter and a couple of other questions
Hello,
Need to order some winters for our new (used) 135 vert. Prior to this I have just dealt with all seasons but just driving the car back (we live in Chicago) from the dealer was a nightmare and getting winters on is the right thing to do. The car current has stock summers on: 215/40 R18 on front 245/35 R18 on the rear Putting cost aside my options are to get a set of winter wheels and tires or swap the tires each time. I'm leaning towards a set of winter wheels as it just seams easier. Is this the general consensus? Tirerack recommends either 225/40 R18 205/50 R17 I'm thinking of going with the 17's. Any fitment issues? Smaller is better right or does it just look bad with the 17's? Probably go with the Blizzak LM-60's. TPMS, that is just a matter of choice if I want to deal with the low pressure warning on for the whole winter. Any issues running without the sensors? Last question, yes i've never done this before. Assuming I order the wheels and tires mounted and balanced, I can mount these myself right? No additional set up required such as aligment? Thanks for answering my noob questions. |
