Update- 10 Oct 11
My replacement 135i got to the dealer on the truck this past Saturday. I was supposed to take delivery today and finally received a call from my CA this evening. Whoever drove it off the truck dinged a rear quarter panel and the bumper! They're replacing them both entirely. WTF!!!!!!! The car doesn't even have a mile on it yet and it's already damaged. Anyone else see a problem with this?

At 15,000km 135i with DCT stalled a couple of times and it did it again at 21,000km. Also at 16,000km, started surging to 2,500 rpm when coming to a stop. First, dealership said it was low battery, so they put in a bigger battery and I bought their $450 charger. Took it back for the stalling and surging problem at 21k and they said that out of 70 tanks of gas, only 4 were premium, which was BS. All were 93 or 94 octane and I had receipts for all. They reprogrammed the DCT but it was still surging before stopping. Then the transmission threw 3 codes and was grinding on the way back to the dealership. They put in thousands of dollars replacing clutch and transmission parts. They haven't solved why the gas is reading wrong and they've had the car for a month now waiting for a software upgrade from BMW so they can read the gas again. They won't replace the onboard computer which is obviously reading the gas wrong, so the car is tuned for regular gas! I hate this car now and its gone before it goes off warranty.

I have a 2009 135i, have been experienceing the very thing from the very beginning...6 speed Auto Trans and mine will have a delay in accelleration at stop signs and slow rolls as well, I managed to figure that it's got to be the Traction control computer not letting the car spin out like mad, because it will if it was allowed...if you more gradually push on the gas and once the car starts heavy acceleration then punch it...it will take off like the rocket sled it is, otherwise...it will just sit and spin if it was allowed to react instantly. The first time I tried flooring it at a stop, it spun up to 7K RPM and barely moved for about 2 seconds then literally jolted out and took off..."Feeling like a rocket launch". Very scary!...Must be a combination of Turbo lag and Traction control, so I temper my pedal pushing and traction/accelereation from take off has been much better ...hope this works for you all.

Last post in the thread is over a year old....that might suggest they had fixed the issue, 17K+ on mine with over 15K with the JB4

More common than if you go 6MT.

So far I have not noticed anythign alarming. I think the DCT just feels more like a manual than an auto. If you see it from that perspective some of the notchiness makes mroe sense. It is not as smooth as the DSG but i think it is still good.

Was parking at school today morning, in manual mode, gear 1, slowly going into the parking space when out of no where my rpm's drop to 0, and my car shuts off. I waited about 10 seconds, car turned on just fine. There was no warning lights or any hesitation after that. Bought the car brand new, only mods are a catback in terms of engine mods, only has 14k miles.

That was another one of the problems I had with mine. It didn't seem to matter how gradually or quickly I stopped, it was common for the car to just cutoff as if the clutch had failed to disengage.

DCT Issues
I'm a fairly new 2012 135i owner and having a similar problem but my issue is that I put the car in gear and as soon as I hit the gas the car goes back in to park. If I keep my foot on the brake while I hit the gas the car will move but as soon as I let my foot off the break it goes back in to park. Anyone have any insight on what could be causing this? Thank you!!!
