(Cripes, another tire thread, sorry)

Anybody running these? I'm fixin' to ditch my RFTs and these are a considerable savings over PSS. One reviewer I found says they're noisy, but then another says the PSSes are noisy too and so who knows. Any comments will help.

I believe I use to run them on my old GTI and may have them on my current GTI and they are a great tire. I didn't experience annoying noise.
Just turn up the volume of your music if you get annoyed!

The BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg run either DW's or DWS's on their "M" cars so I'm sure you'll be pleased too.

I ran them on my 328 and plan to put them on my 135.
Road and Track did a tire comparison a couple of years ago, the DW came out top as the best "real world" tire.
Great tire with a great price !

I ran Conti DW on my e46 330i. Excellent tire for the money. Keep the PSI up to compensate for the weak sidewalls. The rears wore quite fast, just like a Michelin PSS.

They're a fantastic tyre but, having run both tyres, I would pay the extra for the PSS personally.

I actually prefer them to the PSS tires. They ride a little better, handle about the same for my driving style and they don't wiggle over repaired cracks in the road. There's freeway on ramp that I drive every day in the summer. There's a lot of longitudinal cracks in the pavement that have been repaired with liquid asphalt. Whenever I hit these with the PSS the car would wiggle alarmingly. With the DW tires the problem went away. If you can buy them for significantly less than the PSS that's just an added bonus.

The pss has a slightly more grip, but not anything that i would be willing to pay extra for, esp considering the DWs are on sale now.

Michelin Pilot Super Sports were the clear winner but the DW was not too far behind and significantly cheaper. As others have noted, the DW has a little softer ride. I consider them a "best buy for the money" but the PSS are the best performance tire I have ever owned. So it is a bit of a trade-off: DW save some $ and softer ride while sacrificing some cornering or PSS ultimate performance. I have not noticed road channeling that some here complain about with the PSS.

I run these on my E88 135i (w/Dinan S3 pkg). Bought these when I went from 17" to 18" wheels. I periodically run closer to 80% of the limit and don't think I have gotten anywhere close to 95%, probably because I am a senior citizen. The PSS probably are more "pure", but for me, the DW rides better than 17" all season RFTs and corner a hell of a lot better.

Originally wanted PSSs because of what I read on here, but there was not enough left from my Social Security check to cover it, so I went DW. I have also had the DWS on three other different vehicles and liked them so that influenced me, as well.

By the way, I run 225/255 on 313s w/no issues.

My car had these when I bought them from the original owner. I got about a year out of them and thought they were fantastic tires. They gripped really well and didn't seem noisy at all. Unfortunately they are a bit pricey so I went with some Kumho's when my rears were going bald.

I ran these last summer on the street and put six or so track days on them and have no complaints.

I run the Conti DWS 06's on my car for the all-season performance and have been extremely happy with them. They do incredibly well in the wet, impressive in the snow, and are great on dry in the summer.

I also ran an older version of the DWS on my 330i. They were EXCELLENT in the snow when new. Truly exemplary for an all season as opposed to a dedicated snow tire.

Did you find that the Contis were more narrow than the PSS's of the same size? I had PSS's, so when I needed new tires and switched (because DWs were much cheaper), they were not as wide as the Michelins. I was very disappointed in the look as a result. Tires are OK though....

I ran Michelin PSS in the same size on my E36 M3. The PSS have a what appears to be a thicker sidewall and a nice rim protector that keeps the lips away from curbs. That being said, I felt the Conti DW was still a great looking tire with a nice summer tread design.

I have these on the 135. They are a little harder than other performance tires hence a little louder, especially on rough surfaces.

On the good side, since they are harder they have proven more durable.

I've heard the TW rating is definitely higher but they stick just the same as a few bumps lower. I'd try them if I didn't need all-seasons. Maybe when i get another set of wheels I'll make the switch.
