2014 E88 production?

Any chance of a E88 production change in July? I'm soon to order an E88, possibly the limited edition, but will wait if there is going to be a production change as it usually means better value from packages combination. I'm not a big fan of the next generation 1 and 3 series, so will definitely not want to miss the ordering deadline. Thank You for any advise!

Isn't 2014 going to be the 2 series?

yup.

OP if u wanna wait 1 year for the 2 series(replacement for 1 series) is coming out.

I doubt package will change since I thought the lifestyle limited was the final hurrah for the 1 series.

Debut is in fall and production should start end of this year

It may be a 2 series, but will it still be an E88?

For some reason, I thought production started already as a 2013 model. I remember seeing a post on the board saying they had order one and is on its way already. It doesn't help that BMW USA website doesn't seem to have any information. Even the dealer I talked to are clueless about it. The 1 to them is mostly just a bastard child, not worth their effort if I was going to be a picky nickle and dime customer. You'd think paying cash for a 45K car will get you some common courtesy.

No, the 2 Series (based on the F20 Series) will replace the E82/E88.

BMW usually do a production change in July. Does that mean they will just stop production of the E88 in July, or they just won't take any more special order?

Not always.

For example N54 to N55 swap over took place in March, as was IIRC the E82/E88 LCI.

2013 models have started and are at dealerships already. The next generation 1er (aka the 2 series) will be a 2014 model but will be in sale late 2013.

If it was me, I would wait to see what the 2 series brings. If you don't like it, you will probably get a super good deal on the e88 1 series since production will come to an end sometime this year and its the final year model. With dealerships knowing its replacement is imminent, they probably want to push them off the lots and will give big discounts.

Ya you are right. My order was placed late July 2012 and it was for a 2013. So that should be when the change happens theoretically.

I think the reason he's afraid to wait tho is cuz he said he wants a lifestyle package which will probobly be hard to find if it wasn't pre ordered. Although I agree with you if his build specs aren't to specific he would get a good deal waiting til later this year to get one of the ones left in inventory over the US somewhere and buying a drop top out of season. But if he has very specific build specs it would be hard I bet as dealers rairly even stock our cars.

BMW's life cycles usually go seven years. So 2008 was the first M.Y.
so... 2008 + 7 = 2015.

Don't you think there will be another M.Y. of the current e82/e88 ?

PS: yes, I know the e82 came out in Europe in 2007 calendar year.

Except they haven't been full model years, see my earlier post...?

So, 2007 + 7 if two of those are 'half' years = 5 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 2013

With the spy shots of camo'd 2er verts on the road in testing seen at the end of last year, it's not going be another 18+ months before they go on sale, especially if it's true that it's being debut at Frankfurt in Sept this year...??

Production commencing in November this year from this thread would seem to confirm this if true...?

I guess we will have to wait for the IAA in September.

This year will be a busy year in Leipzig: i3 and i8 production also starts up in the Fall. I know the factory is expanding like crazy right now.
