Yes and no additional cost. You can even do ED and PCD if you want.

What exactly is PCD? Prep center delivery? For some reason I thought it stood for Performance Center Delivery.. and that didn't make much sense to me.
Do people skip the dealer pickup to get their vehicles earlier? What about final prep at the dealership.. is it not needed? Any other advantages/disadvantages? Is the Prep Center the same thing as VPC? :iono:

It is Performance Center Delivery. The Performance Center is adjacent to the BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. You can tour the plant and they let you take the same model car as yours out on the track there with an instructor. They also give you a thourough demonstration of the cars features and I am sure they have a prep center there to get teh car ready.

Each car gets its own individual glass enclosed room. When they are done explaining things to you, the glass wall opens and you drive your car out. Very cool. They also have a great track behind the facility used for learning about your new vehicles handling, braking, and accelerating characteristics. Nate

And you get to go romp through scenic South Kakilacky on the way home (there are some excellent roads heading up past Furman towards NC). Used to live there  Just don't let them slap a bumper sticker on saying 'How 'bout them Cocks?' The rest of the country might not understand....................

BMW has changed the name of the center and the delivery experience a few times over the past couple of years. It used to be known as Performance Center Delivery, and most people still refer to it as such.
The past couple of years, BMW has started referring to the delivery experience as the "Ultimate Delivery Experience," and now they are also calling it the "Performance Driving School Delivery Program." (http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte.../Delivery.aspx) The Performance Center is a facility adjacent to the factory in Greer, SC where BMW offers driving schools, and also where they train BMW personnel in new products, maintenance, etc. It is separate from BMW's Vehicle Preparation Centers (VPC). BMW currently has 3 VPCs: one in New Jersey, one in the South Carolina factory, one in Port Hueneme, CA. If you choose PCD, you will most likely get your car *later* than if you choose normal dealer delivery. This is because of the need to schedule delivery slots at the Center. PCD delivery takes the place of dealer delivery. And instead of being prepped at a VPC closer to your home/dealer, the car is delivered to SC and prepped at the VPC in South Carolina. All paper work is done ahead of time at your dealer, but you take possession of the car in South Carolina. |

No cost advantage. Same price.
The destination charge funds the event's activites (incl. free night's hotel stay and dinner for 2). You are responsible for the cost of getting down to South Carolina. |

Thanks plien69; I checked out your write-up on the experience; sounds great, I'll plan on it with my next car. For now my dealer will have to explain the blinkers and brake to me in the lot...lol...By the way, I'm in stamford and have some friends up in Fairfield. When are you getting your car? Would be great to meet up at a 1addicts meet in the summer? Let's wait for more of us to take delivery (mine will be mid-May...I hope)

I work in Stamford, and I'm getting mine at Darien. It's on the Liberty right now, which is due to dock in NYC tomorrow. My SA told me the car should be ready sometime next week.
