Phillips actually licenses out their products to companies in China that manufacture their bulbs from Phillips parts....I know this because I've dealt with companies that were licensed Phillips bulb manufacturers.

I am specifically speaking of the Ultinon bulb production which is done at the plant in Aachen, Germany.

just to clarify derek,
you prefer the quality of mtecs over phillips?
or you mean this keeping in mind a price to performance/qaulity ratio?

So how much light output is lost going to say, an 8K bulb vs. the 4300K stockers? Sure 8K will look a lot better, but I want BRIGHT.

it really depends on the specific bulb and quality. Output can vary tremendously. But I assure you, 8000k will be noticeably dimmer, the best compromise is 6000k. Generally, with highquality 6k bulbs the loss should not be very significant- or negligible, and the color change, also makes it appear "brighter".

Long story short, if you want bright, dont go 8k/

The D1S bulbs I got from Derek went kaput today. I believe they are GP Thunders though..I'm not really sure..4 years and only 16K miles later.
