Simply because it has the M package so I added the M logo.

Yes I do. I didn't put the M badge to copy and make like i have a 1M. Like I said I put it because it's the M package,
The bmw 235i come with the M badge... And I didn't want to put the 135 on it. Because I think there is not enough space of the trunk to put that much badge.

So rice, amateur, and pretentious. This is what kids in high school and college do when they can't afford the real thing. Badges and stickers to pretend to be something that they're not. It's blasphemy to a luxury vehicle and brand. If it deserved a badge or sticker, the factory would've installed it. If they could've afforded to purchase an M-series vehicle, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

The 1M and 135i are very similar cars. The 1M also doesn't even run an S-series motor a tune N54B30 engine and a tuned N54B30TU will perform very similarly. Its not the same as walking up to a M3 lookalike 335i and opening the hood to see an N54 instead of an S65. 1M conversions add ALOT of functionality and features to the car that make alot of sense for track and performance driving. IlikeBMXbikes doesn't even have an M badge on his car despite having the most involved conversion on 1addicts. Of the people who've done the 1M conversion of the forum I don't think many (or any) have gone out their way to say they drive a 1M and deny any ownership of a 135i, most guys don't do the LCI headlights anyway which is a dead giveaway. My point is nobody is doing the 1m conversion to make the world believe they own a 1M, most of these guys appreciate the aggressive lines and look of the car and opted for it out of insurance options or performance options and it is most definitely not the same as slapping on M badge on a stock 135i/128i. |

Why do a 1M conversion when the car was not born a 1M? Because they can and they can afford it. Everyone has their own reasons for doing mods on their car. Some people are car mod enthusiasts and enjoy it like a project or hobby. Some people do car shows, some people track their car, some people want their car to be faster or a sleeper. Sometimes it's more cost effective to put in your own aftermarket mods in a base model than to buy a more expensive version of the car, especially if you're going to strip it anyway.

Yea I get all the points spoken about. Again...wasn't trying to knock on the 1m conversion. I love all the work of the ones that are done on here. I've seen the build threads and appreciate the passion and work that goes into them. If I had the means to do it to mine, I wouldn't hesitate. My whole point was that it's how each individual perceives it. Just like the guy sees it as an extension of the M package. I have the M package on my 1er, but wouldn't never put a badge on mine. To each their own though.
As for the comment about if the maker thought it deserved a badge it would have put one on....the makers are clearly making it more confusing. Probably as a marketing ploy. Look at the new 2. They put the badge on there when everybody and their mother knows it's not a true M car. Lexus also does the same badging their F sport vehicles when they are not F models. Due to this....I'm sure this isn't the end of people branding their cars incorrectly. |

I'd agree. No matter how good the M2 is, I still look at it as the "new school", whereas the 1 was the last of the "old".
