Up sizing rear tyres only??
Hi, I have a totally standard 135i set-up (runflats) 215/40/18 front and 245/35/18 rear. And only need to replace my rear tyres and want to go with 255/35/18 in the rear. Would there be any problems with handling or does anyone run 215/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

If you look up combinations on TireRack, it actually recommends 255 rear and 215 front... so I'm guessing this isn't an issue. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but will probably go ahead and upsize my front tires too.

Thanks for all of the responses, doesn't seem to be much difference going by the tire size calculator. I will probably go for the 255/. It would be good to hear from someone who has been running this setup for a while.

You can do 255 rear no problem. 225 front is no issue. I think 235/40's fit on the front as well, but they're really tall. |

My fronts still have 80% tread on them and new RFT for the front are about $400 each here in Australia. I can get a set of used 255/35/18 RFT for the rear with 80% for $200 each. Hence the question. |
