I'd be interested in getting a set as well. Why can't you use a color other than white for the letters/numbers?

I guess the text doesn't have to be white, I could use light colors like yellow or maybe red, but not black or dark colors like blue.

Well if they were a transparent black or blue with the rest of the face being opaque then it should be able to work. I'm just unsure of the process you'd be using to get this done, can you elaborate more on that?

I think i found a way to make white text and a white background work. But you would need to switch to the orange 1M needles for it to work.

It's going to be a replacement face printed on plastic. the picture below shows what i'm planning for the night backlight. I've already replaced the led's in the cluster with white so i can make the backlight overlay any color i want. I'm going to keep some orange color so it will match the rest of the existing interior lights.

Can you do this with the red turned to maybe off white so it glows just slightly lighter than the rest at night? Not sure if I'm making sense. Also can you do this with mph and no km? That 135i is set in the perfect place on the last one you did if you can get the font right. You could make the 135i gray if you can get the red to white so it will be outlined at night. If you can get mph only on the speedo there's lots of room for the ///M in color so it would be outlined as well. Hope I'm making sense.

O yeah. And why would you need the 1m needles?

Just for the white face gauge, it would be difficult to see the white needle.

If I were taking it all apart to replace the gauges I'd just transparent paint the needles, its been done before

@MuNkY6913 are there lights behind there, or would that light be coming from behind the needles/numbers? I haven't taken apart a cluster before, so I don't know where the lights are placed. Do you have the link to the thread where you changed your cluster bulbs?

Also, @mccandless I have photoshop at home so I'm going to see if I can come up with a few ideas as well. What would be the price range and when would these be available to be made?

I think i'm ready to try and build one over the weekend. Once i get it completed and i know how much time, effort and materials are required, then I'll be able to figure out if I can produce them for sale and what the price would be.

I really like the designs you are putting out. So these are just replacements for the OEM cluster overlays?

I like the first design (1M Style) and I like some of the 135i design proofs you have done. The real aftermarket looking overlays look REALLY cool, but I would never install one on my car.

Me personally I really like the orange lighting in the car and want to preserve that. I'd be all down for a M style cluster overlay with the N54/N55 specific rev-range coloring that keeps the original lighting pattern.

HUGE props to you man. Any idea what your pricing will be? Im definitely interested.

My cluster

I bought these backgrounds on ebay.. now (one year later) they are slightly deteriorated because of the summer heat, so I'll have to buy new ones
