Tesla have announced Aus pricing and it's impressive.
Starting at $91k - $120k plus on roads depending on model, means it's close to US pricing where it's up against the M5 and E63.
I think it's a fascinating piece of kit and a great sign of what electric cars will be like in the future.

Fully specc'd with the bigger battery it will be just under $200k... Still less than an M5 but not quite as cheap as it appears to be...

Interesting people mover, but a battery fitted to a car is there to start the reciprocating pulse a a piston engine that uses PETROL.

To a degree. I still think the technology isn't quite there yet for electric cars in terms of battery technology (weight wise). Hybrids are very complicated things and to get them to work in unison with a combustion engine is expensive. When battery technology progresses I'm sure it will probably be better just to make a fully electric car than a hybrid. More of a trend thing probably, but what do I know I'm just a normal consumer.

I just checked and you can spec it up to $190k, but you can also get the fastest version for $150k on the road if you leave out all the useless fruit.


I like the idea of this for commuting and something that makes a lot of noise and uses a lot of petrol for fun.
Should also be nearly zero maintenance needed until the batteries need replacing.

I very rarely drive more than 500kms in a day so don't think range would be an issue for me.
Sounds like I am the only one here who likes them, I would seriously consider one for my next car but would have to also have something with an engine for the track and weekends.

I tend to agree, this thing is a game changer. It's easy to pick holes at it and it's not for everyone, but no car is.
We bitch and moan about how manufacturers rip Australians off yet here's a group basically offering global pricing and it hardly gets a mention.

Sure it gets up there in price if you fully option one, but has anyone every paid for BMW or Porsche options! What does a fully optioned M5 look like!

Less than $150k and you get a car that does 4.4s to 100, 12.5s quarter mile times while sucking down 0L/km. Pretty amazing really.
I'm considering one as the next family car, nice complement to the 1M.
