Turbo replacement questions...

After trying to get rid of my nasty wastegate rattle using the Mr. 5 technique, I have come to the conclusion that I need new turbos/wastegate set up. Without the arm attached, my wastegate is very sloppy. I cannot adjust out the rattle on the rear turbo, not to mention I can hear the front rattling slightly. I have 62k miles on the car now.

My main question is if you suddenly need to replace your turbos out-of-pocket, which route would you go?

I'm running a Jb4, Raceland Dp's, ER FMIC. I'm confident in doing the install myself. I would also like to keep my Jb4.

Sorry if this is a no-brainer search...

Or you can save some money and buy the turbo's from Tischer BMW.

Im a little leary of a "professional company" that uses a cheapo video shot in the dark on a public street like a couple of teenagers with an iphone. I'll wait to see how others make out with these turbos. Im in no hurry anyway.
Anyone have personal exp swapping these in?

I totally agree with this. I was thinking about getting RB turbos but when I had a look at their website and saw that in pride of place was an amateur video showing illegal street-racing I decided they were not for me......

Well after going out to set my actuating arm back to stock, I am rattle free! Not sure how that happened, but I'll take it.

Still don't see these gates really holding up for too long. Rb sound like the best way to go...

Thanks for the replys

I always had the rattle but after installing my catless DP, the noise was unbearable. I got my car around 43k, and I currently have 62k....

The Mr 5 technique DOES work and is the only solution that makes sense to me. If you unhook the arm from the wastegate you can feel how much slop it has. Since they are internal gates, that means if I want tight gates, Im gonna need new turbos...
