Official procedure is to drop the transmission if you want to replace it with the oem part.

Get aftermarket silicone inlets instead, will reduce the restriction and much easier to fit.

For an aftermarket silicone replacement you drop the downpipes and cut the old rear pipe (with a reciprocating saw), allowing you to remove the plastic inlet in pieces. new silicone pipe is flexible and will fit in between the firewall and engine.

ok i removed my downpipes i was able to access the pipe and press it back in it was only popped off, there is no clamp or nothing like that holding it in does it really just snap in without any clamp what a poor design. it popped off when i tried to put in the diverter valve. i seen on real oem that a rubber insert holds these together...

does anybody know what symptoms arise from this pipe being popped off the turbo side

ISTA says just to remove the airbox, engine cover and rear crowling.

The rear inlet is wedged in between the firewall and engine. Ive looked it up on ista as well, definitely says drop the transmission. You probably looked up n55

If this is N54, Vargas makes a bracket to secure it in place.

Maybe you guys down there have a different version? I looked it up on a UC73 car, and it doesn't mention the transmission. Maybe because we have a flat-rate system here? Dunno.

Mines a UC72 but theres no difference, either the rear inlet has to be cut out or the transmission has to be dropped. Attached is the ISTA document 13 71 170

If you look at any N54 silicone inlet DIY they all have to cut the rear inlet off with a reciprocating saw, LHD or RHD included.

That's crazy! Mine showed the same thing, minus the removal of transmission. I'll screenshot it when I get to work.
