Do I? not really. It's the japanese testing them...The I6TT puts out alot more than the 225kw they state officially.

yup, Shell V-power racing is 100RON. BP ultimate and Mobil are 98 RON.

So, one question, how much better will the car perform (perhaps on the track) if you use 100 instad on 98?
Another question: If you put one fuel, do you have to wait for tank to almost empty before you put the different one or not (98 to 100 or 100 to 98)?

Ill be using BP Ultimate in my car, found all my previous cars run better on it. It's also cleaner with less benzine and sulpher from memory...

Best way to tell the diff in fuels is to dyno the cars. Same dyno, same temp, same operator and see how it goes....

I also think a tune will take better advantage of the higher Ron rating fuels..

Yeh many cars aren't compatible with the V racing (ethanol based). I used it in my 350z when it first came out and noticed quite a big difference in throttle response. But then I rang Nissan Australia and they said it would damage the engine if used on a long term basis.

I use BP ulitmate now. Found it to be the best for perfomance and economy.

On the stock ECU I doubt 100 octane will do any better than 98 octane as 95(?) octane is what the ECU is programmed to use optimally. Perhaps on a very hot day 100 octane will be superior as the ECU will then retard the timing less.

OK, thanks Alext, but the 135 you have to put at least 98 right? or can you put 95?

You can actually put in 91 octane if you want quite safely as long as you are not boosting it heavily on a hot day and dont mind loosing a little power as the ECU will adapt. Normal premium (95 octane) will be fine.

When I was tuning an '01 MX5 turbo several years ago I found that on anything less than 98 octane @ 12psi boost the engine would detonate audibly. And so I had to retard timing a few degrees, especially around the torque peak. @ 8 psi 95 octane could be used when ambient temps were cold. Sometimes I would encounter a bad batch of 98 octane fuel (usually from BP) and would have to switch timing maps immediately because of bad (v.audible) detonation from the engine.

BTW the difference in feel of power between 12 & 8psi was massive.

Interesting video. I think the M3 lost because the driver bogged the car down a bit at the start. You can see the revs drop down a lot on the footage in the M3. The M3 was catching up at the end.

I'm guessing with the 135's low down torque, it would be easier to have good launches than the M3.:iono: Just guessing.

At the end of the day, at the price the 135 is, it's one hell of a car to be able to do what it did.:headbang:

d3syd: it does appear like that. I have no doubt in my mind the V8 is quicker over the quarter. Up to 100 though I think the 135i might be pretty neck and neck with the V8
