I know the feeling, but e36 or even some e46 can be had for "cheap". I went e92 because I just wanted one for a long time. Can't wait to see what you get and what you do to it, if anything is needed, and watch your videos.

Keep us posted, should be fun!

congrats on your E92! share some pictures and impressions as to differences between your two cars. V8 M3 is definitely a keeper.

Kori, sorry to see you go. I didn't realize you had sold your 1er, but you gotta do what you gotta do...and an E36 M3 would be an awesome track toy! Good luck in your search.

Anyway, if I were local to you, I would seriously consider picking these up. I don't really have the cash now anyway (and a number of other mods in the works), but I'm seriously thinking about dropping down to a lightweight square 17" set, and these look like a darn good option. What size and brand tires did you run with them? Any spacers ever required?

Jim the timing and the buying price was right so I had to let her go. getting an E36 for a track car is a no brainer but I am looking at the possibility of an esoteric choice like an old porsche or a converted old american muscle. always loved the cars from the old trans am series. I am not in a rush which is a good thing for finding the right car.

I use to run BFG R1 245/40 all the way around with a 3 mm spacer up front. little to no rubbing. after that I got the Toyo RA1 235-255/40. there was a lot of rubbing in the back so I had to raise and use stiffer springs to take care of the rubbing. the square BFG R1 were my best setup. practically no understeer and phenomenal level of grip. the reason I changed to the RA1 was mainly because I missed several events due to wet conditions so I figured the RA1 would at least let me get on the track rather than be side lined. anyway both tires were great and had their plus' and minus'. I will keep you guys posted with my progress on a track car.

There's a BMW club instructor - I can't remember his name, but you've probably met him - who has a 318i (or something like that) track car with an LS6 in it - fits better than the stock engine. He has a buddy who's got a similar car with an LS1, I think. Awesome cars, they just haul ass. I have no idea about price. I'm pretty sure both of them bought their cars already built.

Another one bites the dust I am in process of going full track prep on the Z, picked up a 535 for DD duties. If you got any questions on that platform I would be able to walk you through it. I think it is a lot more capable platform than the E36.

Or you can always pick this up

Lubo that E36 is a sweet deal. the Z I have in mind is more like the one below and I have an interest in vintage race cars like some of these cars. would love to transplant a LS6 into an old american muscle like Gary was talking about.
