Ok, this is getting retarded. Is it twin-turbo or twin-scroll? I've seen mixed answers......

The Cayman R is also launching right now, seems like it should be on that comparison instead of the "S"

LOL yes and I keep seeing 335bhp and 340bhp.

I wish they would make up their minds!

335bhp = 340PS
340bhp = 345PS

Which one will it be!

Are you sure? The catalog says TwinPower turbo. SCOTT26 said it would be a N engine "hybrid".

The R won't be significantly faster than the S, but driving dynamics may be different. I believe it's only 150 lbs lighter than the S with only 15 hp gain. I believe all those 0-60 numbers are conservative.

For pete's sake, it's twin turbo. You can tell by the pics. You can see the DV lines, running just like on the N54 in all of the other N54 powered x35i's.

Ha, save Pete's sake. The ONLY reason I was questioning is because I THOUGHT that a high quality, established business like BMW would be able to correctly market its car.

Apparently the people writing the 1M catalog material could not decide if it was twin-turbo or not either......

Supposedly Jurgen Schwenker himself stated that it is "A very free-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology and 340HP."

Yeah, I just like throwing Pete under the bus from time to time

1M is the clear winner between the German purist coupes (base price comparo)

1M = 46,000
TT RS = 65,000
Cayman R = 66,000

Other cars that might be considered purist competitors;

Subaru STi = 38,000
Mitsu Evo = 34,000

You betcha!

http://blog.caranddriver.com/hooray-...-by-late-2011/

I little more grunt and a little less girth than the 1M... but then agian the price reflects that. The 1M is still a huge bang for your buck in comparison.

Yeah, I think that point is being lost on some folks. I can understand it. The 1M is on comparison to cars what?....20-30% more expensive. 1M seems a real value to me.

Is that a question for me or just rhetorical?

I got the pricing of the 1M off the big info release on this site, first page... first post, you have to click "pricing"
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463733

I got the Porsche pricing off the US website;
http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/cayman/cayman-r/

I have no idea why the Cayman is priced as high as it is... name presitge I guess.
