Autocar full road test!

I know someone has posted up on here about the Autocar review of the 1M, but I was flicking through the latest edition today (the one with the M5 on the front of it) and they have a full review of the car.

This review goes on for four pages and has a LOT of technical data such as 0-60, 0-100 and 30-70 times. I'm not sure what the rules are on scanning articles in but for those of you who can get Autocar, go and have a look. It looks to be a superb review with a lot of performance data. I thought 30-70mph in 4 seconds was good! And 0-100mph in 11.1 seconds

Anyway check it out

That's a very good 30-70 number.
Were there other notable stats?

The 1M is geared to reach 75 mph in 2nd. I'd be interested to know the 30-50 and 50-70 times in 2nd!

Actually, these in gear test are always done in higher gears. I think it really shows the true useable power of the engine(lower RPM range). If you did this same exact test on the S54 or even the S65, I don't thinks they could match the 1M's in gear times. However, if you wind the current M3 out past 6k to redline it pulls like a freight train as the 0-100, 0-150 times I posted in the other Autocar thread show. Up to 100 it's gonna be close, but past that, the M3 is gonna start walking away slowly....

Autocar is not a serious performance magazine in my view. Their 0-100 seems down on other tests. They appear to make no mention of the M button wonder if they even used it?? If the M button boost lasts for 7 seconds?? how does that impact on the in gear figures Do they do every 20 mph zone as an individual test with button pushed or do they just do one run and measure each 20 mph zone from that?? If latter would there be a drop off after 7 seconds?? Any views??

I bought the copy yesterday. Its actually an 8 PAGE review with facts figures etc.

It smashed the Caymen S round the track in both the dry and the wet laps.

Dry:
1M: 1.14.8
Cayman: 1.17.6

Wet:
1M: 1.19.3
Cayman: 1.22.9

I do agree though that Autocar are volatile with their reviews and sometimes its worth taking what they say with a 'Pinch of Salt'. For those of you who can't get the magazine, this was the summary out of five stars based on different aspects of the review:-

Design & Engineering: 4*
Interior: 3.5*
Performance: 4*
Ride & Handling: 4*
Buying/Owning: 4*

Overall the 1M came second against five alternatives:-

1) Caymen S (4.5*)
2) BMW 1M (4*)
3) Lotus Evora (4*)
4) Nissan 370Z (3.5*)
5) Audi TTRS (3*)

They provide lots of stats, however the thing that i found confusing was that they seem to think that the Lotus will hold its value better year-on-year, over four years then that of the 1M??? Really????!!!!
