Harmon kardon or pdc and comfort access
I am about to lease a brand new 135 zmp dct. They have 2 of the same exact cars except one comes with Harmon kardon and satellite radio and the other has rear pdc and comfort access. Anyone have suggestions on which car to go with.

I did the former -- HK, no CA. Saw no benefit to comfort access -- it just means you don't have to stick the key in the slot, but you still have to touch the door to unlock the car, so what's the point? And I'm not really comfortable with the keys in my pocket anyway.
The stereo, on the other hand, was a must-have for me. But you should check the various threads on that one, especially in the audio subform. Not everyone agrees, and some think it's worth 875 but not the 1600 it costs with mandatory BMW Assist (which I agree is a little pointless without Nav). Somehow I managed to get HK without having to pay for BMW Assist, but apparently that's no longer possible. But if you're getting a car off the lot you may have that option due to how the packages were at the time it was built. Go over that sticker list carefully.

definitely the hk! no need for pdc i think. the car is small enough to park extremely easily. And CA while convenient is not exactly necessary. sticking the key in the slot is pretty simple

CA spoils you and gets your panties in a knot when you have to operate something with a remote... not a good trait... should have went with the HK since I spend the majority of my time stuck in traffic trying to convince myself the sound system is just fine...

GO with the HK as other has suggested, nothing beats a drive in a BMW on a great road listening to some great tunes clearly.

I agree the HK sounds awesome... that said I love having the PDC and CA. May spoil me but I love it. That said they aren't as necessary for me as the HK would be though if I had to choose.

Sounds like you've made your decision but let me add one more voice in favor of the HK. Sometimes I just want to cruise and enjoy the comfort and luxury of my 1er and for that the HK is key. It turns my cabin into a concert hall. And when I want to drive spirited and rock out, the HK delivers an awesome high quality punch. The system is model specific equalized so it's set up specifically for the acoustics of the 1 series. You can also play with it and adjust it how you want. My wife has an Audi A3 with the optional Bose system we sprang extra for. No regrets there either as it really sounds good. But the HK in my 1er blows it away.

i have both. You'll enjoy the HK way more than the CA.

Why not just order your car with all the options you want. ie: HK and PDC. ?
Surely your dealership can seach the ports for a car with your build specs. Worse case order/build a car from Leipzig Werk. We all pretty much had to do this bc 1er's are fairly rare to find the way WE WANT them equiped - not the way BMWNA equips them! |

HK and PDC. Comfort access is unnecessary. it saves you one button press and sticking the fob in the slot. And as others have said in other threads, I think its too easy to walk away without your fob since you never have to out it in your hand.
Plus call me paranoid, but I don't like the idea of someone being able to open the car door if I'm not right at the door unlocking it. In my house it's dangerous since my living room overhangs my driveway. With comfort access someone could just drive away with my car while I was in my house. I don't have either feature, but between the two options the first is more valuable. |

I love my CA, I just leave my keys in my pocket and never have to take them out. That being said, if I had to choose between the HK and CA, HK would win.
