Limp Mode Issue
Hey guys. I'm having an issue with my N54 going into limp mode at first 5 minutes of the session (3-4 Laps AFTER the warm up laps). I first thought it was at WOT, but It happens after hard cornering.
Few Items I looked at which I don't think are the cause. - Not Oil Temps because they are 250-260F first 5 minutes of the session. (I did order a 25 row oil cooler though) - Not boost leak, I recently got the boost leak test and made sure there is no boost leak Things I think maybe the issue? - Boost Solenoid ( I have just ordered new ones and see if it changes anything) - e-diff brake heating up? I don't think it will cause any issue at first 5 minutes. I'm running racing brake fluid, performance pads and stainless steel brake lines. ( Last year I was able to run 15 minutes of session before I saw oil temps at 270F, never limp mode though) Anyone else had this issue? What could be wrong? Current Mods (minus suspension mods): Mainly boltons. (VRSF 7" IC, VRSF Silicon Inlets, VRSF Chargepipe, VRSF Catless DP). I have not added a tune yet. Waiting to install the bigger oil cooler and MFactory LSD.

Yeah, scary for sure. There's some threads on here and on the 3-series board about starvation issues. I really hope that's not your problem though.
Some people tend to add an additional 1/2 liter/quart above full when going on track to help it some as well. |

It could be oil pressure (starvation) I think N54s were notorious for this weren't they?
You're guess about rear brake temperatures could also be totally valid... If the e-diff is engaging, the car will guess what the rear brake temperatures are and if thinks they may be too hot it'll start to cut power. You can/should code all this nonsense off. There's a sticky at the top of the track forum on what to code off. |

I'll do just that until the LSD is installed.
