Went into limp mode, Code 30FF
I was running the car pretty hard today, temp outside is near 90 degrees with high humidity, I went to pass some slower traffic on the interstate in 6th gear, it was pulling hard then it stumbled and went into limp mode and map 4 on jb4. Pulled the code and if I read the needles right it is 30FF (boost leak?) I have not routed my cable yet so I don't have logging available But I was under the car yesterday looking things over as I did my CDV delete and noticed on the passenger side I had a tube halfway out where it connects to the intercooler, I THOUGHT I got it back in, but I am guessing if it popped out before it is probably the culprit again (I will confirm before purchasing parts). I am running jb4 map 5 with about 30-35% e85.
I know I need an intercooler with this set up anyways. So I am wondering, which seems to be the best choice, and are there any available in black?

Is this the complete kit?
Everything else seems to be almost double the price. But I have read good reviews on this site about it. Am I missing something here? http://www.vr-speed.com/vrsf-7-front...2-e90-e92.html

Well I checked around under the car and it is not what I thought. I can't hear or see a leak. Not sure where to go from here. I tried running the usb cable into the car but failed. I ran it through the ECU box grommet at the bottom and do not see it anywhere in the cab (yes I had the piece under the dash off on the passenger side). Where do I go from here? Will logging help or do I need to make a pressure tester? or could it just be a fluke?

Can you clarify, are you running Map4 or Map5? If Map4/0, 30FF is "normal" when driving it hard. With G5 board, the isolated boost control doesn't play nice with the DMe when trying to replicate stock like boost. It'll run just fine, but throw the code.

I was running map 5 when this happened, after limp mode (I pulled to the side of the road and shut it off then restarted) I got to a parking lot, car was really slow all the way there. I then popped the hood, did a visual inspection and didn't notice anything, activated my steering wheel controls and the car was some how in map 4, so I switched it back to map 5 and drove it the rest of the way home easy (about a mile away).

It's also worth replacing gaskets / o-rings on the tubes that connect to your intercooler. If you had to take things apart, replace the o-rings.
I had this code for a year on the Dinan tune before I found out that one o-ring was damaged. |

Will do
With the amount of oil around the tube going into the intercooler from the passenger side, that might be the culprit, I found it partially blown out at one point, its still connected but maybe that o-ring is shot now? I might be ordering a new intercooler this week anyways, so if I do that will take care of that.

I got my intercooler, and installed it. Ran great, but 6th gear from 70-95mph it pulled hard then flashed the check engine light once, then I drove it home with less power (it didn't still have the check engine light and it did not say engine power reduced this time either. But I got home, pulled in the drive and JB4 had switched itself to map 4 again...same code as last time popped up (not sure if it is back or if I just never deleted it). So now I know it is not the intercooler hose this time. Not sure where to go from here.

Charge pipe O-Rings go out sometimes when you use aftermarket CP's. Might check that. Or if you have a stock CP the CP itself may have failed as well.

Thank you for the suggestion! Also I decided to route my usb to the interior of the car so I can log now if need be.
