Will Stock Front Wheel (7.5" 215/40-18) Fit in Rear in Case of Emergency?

Hey guys,

I have ditched my runflats and someone I know has a spare stock 135 front wheel (7.5" on a 215/40-18 tire) that I'm considering keeping in my trunk and using as a full size spare in case I ever get a flat tire.

I think most of you are much more knowledgeable than I am when it comes to wheel fitment and offsets, etc., so I just want to make sure that the front size would fit on the rears and clear the brake calipers/etc. in an emergency situation if I had to put it on there temporarily until I got a new rear tire. It would be cheaper for me to do that than buying a mobility kit and might also alleviate any anxiety about not having runflats, even though I'd lose a good chunk of my trunk.

I know people have used those 17" slim steel wheels so I assume this would work, but I'd rather be sure since those space savers and steel wheels don't really have any concavity and I don't want to one day need to use it and find out that it won't fit on the rears.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

- Greg

Thanks. I have no reason to think it wouldn't either other than 1% paranoia since the stock rear rim is 1" wider, so just wanted to be sure.

No reason it wouldn't fit, the only thing would be offset which all that means is it'll luck tucked in but it's fine b/c its a spare. What you need to worry about more when it comes to spare tires is will the wheel clear the front brakes. But if you're taking a stock rear wheel, that will clear ok, you just may rub fender side if you're not careful.
