First Post
I just bought a 2009 135i coupe with the M sport package on July 4th. It's been completely amazing and a blast to drive. Unfortunately my first post entails some bad news too. On the way to get new tires for the car today, I got rear-ended by a dump truck. Luckily no body damage (quarters are suprisingly fine), just need a new trunk lid, bumper, taillights, rear diffuser and God knows what else. Taking it in tomorrow for an estimate. Hopefully nothing major needs to be done as I spent 4 months looking for this car.
Hope to post again soon, with updates. Until then......be safe everyone Thanks, Brian |

I would definitely call that "body damage," but maybe that's just me.
Anyway, GL with the repair. Sucks that there are so many people out there on the road not paying any attention to what they're doing...

Oh well, yeah there's body damage. But the quarters aren't damaged which is surprising. If they had been I'd be in a worse situation than I am. I guess that's what I meant by body damage. Trunks and bumpers aren't as bad as major body repair.
But thanks, I hope I get good news from the dealership and body shop tomorrow. |

Well, since you got hit, might as well get some mods!
I would suggest getting a CF diffuser get the BMW blackline LCI taillights as well you can see the cosmetic section for more info! welcome, and sorry about your car : <

Took the car in today but they can't do an estimate without removing all the parts and the adjuster has to look at it first. Rough estimate based on looking at it: 5-6k. And about three weeks in the shop.

Are you working with the other parties insurance or yours? My only wreck in the last 30 years was a young lady left turning in front of me. I worked with her insurance because my insurance told me it might count against me from a premium standpoint if they had to handle it. It worked out fine. They were a little reluctant initially until they got the police report and talked to their customer but then they offered a rental and covered the repairs totally. I hope you are treated well by whichever insurance company you are working with.

As long as the damaged parts are removable your car will be fine. I once got dinged in the left quarter and they couldn't pull it out because of where it was. It always bothered me that my car had body filler on it.

I'm working with the other guys insurance company. Got a rental paid for as long as my car is being worked on. Appraiser should look at it tomorrow and then hopefully the shop can get to work. I'm missing it pretty bad. Especially with the crappy rental. My local BMW dealership doesn't have a body shop so I couldn't get a loaner through them, but at least I have a car to drive. Upsetting part is I was supposed to drive The Dragon next weekend, but that won't happen. I'll post more details when I have them. Thanks for all the responses.

Rear ended by a dump truck - damages aren't too bad considering it was a car that weighs 3x more than your 1series.

Yeah, luckily no one got hurt. That is the important part. The damage wasn't terrible since we were at a light. It turned green and he went before I even shifted into first.
