Possible throttle response issue

Okay, this past weekend was my first HPDE and this is where I noticed this issue as I was full throttle in many situations. I kept having the same problem though on the straight up to turn 7 at NJMP lightning track. Basically I'm full throttle in 4th gear and I want to just hold the speed so I'm letting off, letting off, letting, off, and nothing is happening, the car is still charging forward just as fast as it would if I was 100% on it. It's only when I'm significantly off the gas that the car begins to slow its rate of acceleration. I have an N51, everything stock except for the Active Autowerke tune (which was installed before I bought the car). I've heard of an issue similar that member KGolf was having who also has the N51 and AA tune where he'd let off the throttle but there'd be some lag between his actual inputs and what the engine was doing. Is this the issue I'm having?

Thanks

Did you try shooting A.A. an email and ask them their thoughts?

I certainly would hold off tracking until I got that sorted.

The reason I bring that up is because I believe the DME has some influence on the Accelerator Pedal Module & the Electronic Throttle Valve. I would just drop A.A. an email with a description of you situation and ask them if they have any ideas or if they modified/adjusted any of those systems.

I know you can be at too low a speed and the car can only do so much with the throttle you give it, but I would guess I was around 5k rpm. The car should definitely have reacted to what I was doing. Anyways, I sent AA an email, hopefully they can shed some light on this!

I will say that the change over around 4-4.5k with the DISA is INTENSE to say the least. It kicks in like a brick wall!

coming from a 2013 128i N51, 4th+ feels like cruising gears. The car has quit a bit of momentum behind it by the time you hit 4th gear, which means it requires very little gas to keep it moving. This may be why it feels like the car is still charging forward when you let off the gas a bit in 4th. However, once you've hit fourth the car lacks power to accelerate fast enough to feel a big enough momentum shift when you let off the gas.

Like others have said, giving the car slight throttle v.s. full throttle in 4th doesn't feel much different because at the speed you're going in 4th gear the car doesn't have the horsepower to feel the acceleration as much as you do in 1-3. Hopefully that made sense. lol.

Maybe I am completely wrong and the lack of throttle response in 4th is the result of fuel efficiency programming.

No I totally agree that this could be the issue. It's like being in 6th on the highway; I can give it 30%, 50%, or 100% and it's going to accelerate at the same rate lol. But at the RPM I was at in my scenario, it just did not feel right.

One of the things that is a pain in the ass really is the DISA change over at around 4-4.5k. It totally fucks up the throttle input. If the Active tune is magnifying this effect, then it is getting removed altogether.

EDIT: AA got back to me and said it is the first time they have heard of this.

Relevant info from their website:

"Modifications to the a/f, ignition tables, VANOS, Vlavetronic systems, and wide open maps"
"Sportier throttle response"

This is a tune that can be removed safely right? or no?

Yes he did. He sent his tune back to AA and they fixed it. I'm going to see if they can do that with mine. They told me the tune has been updated. I just need a simon tool now
