Coins, Change

Where you do keep your coins/change? I was thinking of using the ashtray.

Under the center armrest there is a small number of slots for coins. One coin per slot.

Stevebmw3 posted this link showing a compartment he found useful for keeping coins. My car is still on some boat , so I can't tell you if this comparment works well or even if it was meant to be a coin compartment. But it seems to work for him and a few others who responded.

Coins and change

I use the ashtray too. Given that anybody caught smoking in my car would be thrown headlong out of it, preferably while it is traveling at high speed, the ashtray is wasted space otherwise.

if the ashtray gets too full of coins they'll slide out and get out by the cig lighter plug,

there's no "coin holder" in the center console, just mystery slots (up front right behind parking brake handle, not for coins

That's odd. Mine does, and it's a US model. Only about 5 slots, each fits one coin, and I've only tried quarters so far.

Sure that's not the vents for the cold air? You open and close it with the slider-button---

The Switch is connected to the little vents in the "cupholder"

I just noticed those coin slots in the arm rest. I, too, thought that they were for the armrest "ventilation". But these are definitely designed to hold coins (it feels like they are lined with rubber to grip the coins). I can now remove those extra quarters from the ashtray.

Now the vents in the armrest cupholder are a different story.

In my wife's purse. My front ashtray (minus the pullout tray) houses my home's garage rather large & chunky remote control. Just fits.

An empty clear plastic 35mm film cannister. Fits nicely in the ashtray. Doesn't rattle either.

Thats some expensive parking

Its also the problem with USA $ that your largest coin is only 25c.
The slots are probably designed to take quote a large denomination euro coin ( cant remember if its 2 or 5 euro, european members ?? )
