Bushings! & Rear Brakes!
$tealer charged me $230 to find out why there was a squeaking noise coming from under the car, told me that the front castor bushes need replacing.
Guess what the quote for the repair was? Replace rubber mount on both tension struts.... $441.26 What is this mount and are there better (and most likely cheaper) after markets out there? Anyone had problems with their's at 57K kms? Seems a bit low to have problems... Also need new rear brakes, pads & discs, suggestions? I want pads that make less dust than oem Last edited by 130iWanted; 06-25-2011 at 12:28 AM.. |

Never had similar issues with mine at 70K kms. Had a few track days under its belt and has been for a few runs on Darwin's rural areas.
Mine was just about needing new rear pads - dodged that bullet! I think a few guys are using ceramic pads that have a finer white dust. |

I had mine changed out under warranty when the dealer found they had split on my E92. Mine were found at around the same km's from memory. I asked the dealer to take a look at a clunking sound coming from underneath the car when changing direction (forward to backwards and vice versa).
They didn't give me any explanation as to why they had split at relatively low km's (and age) though |

I just traded a set of 135 tension struts & control arms to a mate with a 130. He had the same issue. ~10,000 kms on them and he gave me a carton of Carlsberg for them. I've got another set with similar mileage if anyone wants them.

Is it worthwhile considering one of the BMW or "European make" specialist garages to do the work? Going slightly OT, does anybody have any positive experiences with such places in the Brisbane area? I'm coming up for a service soon, and I don't need the salubrious surrounds of my dealer, if I can save money.

Like TimMc I have a set of 135 tension struts & control arms with less than 10,000Kms on them - they are available at the same price - case of Carlsberg. Located North West Sydney.

Oh I AM interested!
What is the difference between the 135i tension struts and control arms and the 130i's? Here's the part that needs replacing, No.7 on the list, is that included? http://www.bmminiparts.com/DiagramVi...217&MOSP=48927 Last edited by 130iWanted; 06-23-2011 at 10:34 AM.. |

I had a similar issue.
I ordered a m3 control arm kit and installed it myself! The kit only cost me approx $400 shipped from the US. The m3 control arms give more camber and better turn in. The install wasn't too hard either. If you what are thinking about doing it and want any tips just let me know. |
