A little different vehicle

One of my cars. My baby. It is fun to drive with 67 advertised horsepower... Just got a fresh shot of R12 and runs like new.

Not getting rid of it for a 135i vert, I just like fun cars in my stable!

No turbo - this is a 240D with 67hp, NA.

A boost controller helps turbo lag on the 300D turbos pretty well. I tuned it with a gauge and it helped a lot.

Gorgeous paint. I am just old enough to remember when those 240Ds and 300s ruled the roads. They made a coupe version (I believe it was the 280CE) that I thought (and still think) is da bomb of cars from that era.

they made a diesel coupe - 300CD that was awesome. Hard to find in good shape though - I think only 8500 or so made it here.

Given that you can't go too fast - 55 is comfortable cruising in the 240D (as opposed to the 300D which will do 90MPH all day long), and so you can get mid-30s if everything is set up right. Ive found a huge variety across these engines though. SOme will do everything in their power and only top 27 or so, others can get nearly 40.
