winter tire size question
I am running some Breyton GTS-R's, and need some winters.
tire rack has some Alpin PA3's in 225/40R 18 for $222 a tire, I was thinking of getting 4, will that be OK? My current sizes are : Fronts are 215/40/18 Rears are 245/35/18 Is that OK to square it up for winter? Or are the rims not going to work with these sizes? |

The guy from TireRack seems to suggest that most buyers tend to buy the 225/40R18 sized tires that fit the 18" wheels. I contacted the person I purchased my BMW from (he's a BMW Sales Mgr), suggested 225/45 R18. I'm super confused myself...

More sidewall will just give the tires a little more flex, which doesn't hurt. I plan on going cheapie 17x7 with 205 or even 195 wide tires. Will cost about 1k for the setup where just a set of 225 winter tires of the same brand would be over 800. Ill spend the extra 200 for a better chance of surviving the snow

Damn. Those are some expensive tires. I was looking at the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D in the 225/45R18 Size. They are $205 a piece. That's still $820 and they are from Tire Rack. Don't know if there are any promotions running...

I thought about winter sports, but I thought the low rolling resistance would be neat to see if it helps, and review wise, the PA3's are pretty awesome, and I am a Michelin fan. |
